Anxiety
Hi there! The 1st. Thing is you need to slow down and take some deep breaths and slowly exhale(i know, easier said than done) the next thing is that effexor will do this at first until your system gets used to it, I know, it did that to me too! The next thing is go to a health or natural food store and ask someone but try to remember you don't want to take anything heavy duty or you might end up falling on top of the wedding cake and especially if they are going to have alchohol at the wedding and like I was told to remember a long time ago, "we sometimes are our own worst enemy."
i hope this helps!
Sincerely,
sandy

I Am Not a Dr.
Hi there! Yes I feel you might think of continuing the effexor you will probably be o.K. With it in a while but that is your choice! You should not be embarrased(sp) or ashamed to ask questions, heck we all need a little help sometime, we are only human, you can always say it is for a friend! You might even ask your Dr. For paxil that helps with being around people! Or you can even call a herb shop or your Dr. Again, I hope this has helped!
Sincerely.
Sandy

Hi adormer221, I like a lot of what sandy said in her original reply to you here. I've only got one more session to go in my cbt group and I can't say enough about what it is doing for me and my panic disorder. I just stopped my meds today and the reduction went real well so hopefully this will work too. The two books we are using in my group are really good and I would recommend them both highly: been there, done that? Do this! By sam obitz for anxiety and mastery of your anxiety and panic-third edition by michelle craske and david barlow for panic disorder. You gotta give cbt a try Smile

Effexor
Hi,
i used effexor before, in the first period of treatment you will feel more depressed but later you should feel better, if after 6 weeks you did not feel better then you should see a doctor to put you on other medication.

I was on effexor for about 3 weeks, it helped at first and then it did nothing for me. Medications affect everyone diffrently. I was also on wellbutrin at one time and it gave me suicidal thoughts and the thoughts of harming others, and I have never had those thoughts before.

You should at least give any new medication at leats 6 weeks before quitting it, unless there is a reason and your doctor aggrees you should go off. I am on p[axil cr for my aniety. I have only been on it 31/2 weeks but so far I like it. The thing about the anxiety meds like valium, xanax and ativan is that they are highly addictive. I do not know if your doc would prescribe it for one day, but my first doc gave me klonopin and all it did is make me sleep. Thalk to your doctor and see what he thinks. Remember that effexor should help you feel better just give it some time.

Get off the meds and do some breathing excercises. Think about the good thing in your life. The whole world is too doped up, and we have to stop letting them do this to us!

Oh shoot.. Not being rude here, but you obviously have never had a panic attack.. All you want to do is escape the scaredness. When you are in a panic attack, breathing does not work! Ive been there, I used to have them all the time then I went to the doctor and they put me on alexis, and that gave me weird burning in my chest (i thought I was having a heart attack) and the second time they put me on something else I can't remember but that made me nervous. All I wanted to do is feel better for just one day. But I couldn't take those meds. Now I don't have many panic attacks anymore, im just extremely depressed.. I just want to have a normal life for 1 freaking day. It will never happen.

As a matter of fact...I've had plenty. I was hospitalized may of last year for 6 days, with no diagnoses on y I was getting dizzy, breathing heavy, and having a rapid heart beat. When I got out of the hospital (after having myself released because I had 3 kids at home to take care of) I went to my family doctor and he diagnosed me with anxiety. I was put on paxil, which didn't do anything because it put me to sleep and I was told to take it at night (what good did that do me). I stopped taking paxil, and started breating exercises, and concentrating on my fam, and it worked.

I have panic attacks myself - not on meds . The main time it happens is when I drive or even think about drivinfd - hence I do not drive at all ( I did for a couple years but would be shaking the whole time giving myself leg cramps. I have had panic attacks other times as well - especially times when I have been very sick.. It is very scary . I would like to know about a sedative myself because I know when it is starting up and I can o nothing. Thank goodness I am usually a very calm person and then sometimes...
