Is It Ok to push and prod baby? Posted: 12-02-07 10:10am
My husband and I have been pushing and
poking at my stomach a lot lately to feel
the baby and to make him move. Is this ok
for our baby or are we giving him fetal
whiplash?

As long as your not hurting yourself, I'd
say it's fine. I have done the same thing
this pregnancy; I think a lot of moms do
because it's neat to get a reaction out of
the baby. The baby is well-protected
within the uterus & with the amniotic
fluid around. I've noticed when the
doctor has felt my uterus externally to
determine the position of the baby, he
presses down much harder (it actually
hurts a bit and is quite uncomfortable)
than I've poked at my belly during
pregnancy.

yeah i have poked my belly a couple times
lol, or gently squeezed it. When i go in
to get checked sometimes the doctors a bit
rough on the belly. So i don't see why
not.
