I've been in the process of packing since I hit 20 weeks XD So far, I've got:

- Boxers and a t-shirt to sleep in
- Pajama pants and comfy shirts for me to wear
- a pack of 5 onesies for baby
- the fleece coming-home outfit
- baby wipes and diapers
- my shampoo and conditioner
- hairbrush and toothbrush and tooth paste
- nursing bras
- couple pairs of baby socks
- several receiving blankets
- the handmade Dutch Doll quilt my great-grandma made her to bring her home in
- couple baby hats
- handmade blanket my aunt and grandma made me (I get cold easily)
- my own towel (hospital ones are scratchy!)
- iPod and dock
- Johnson's Bedtime Bath and Bedtime Lotion
- pads
- as.. childish? As it is, my Better Bear... it's my teddy that I can't sleep without Embarassed

oh, and the camera, of course. And the baby car seat... but that's not in the bag Laughing

A clean T-shirt or front-opening nightie, dressing gown and slippers
Drinks and snacks for you and whoever's going to be with you
A straw, which will make sipping liquids easier
A small facial sponge, for dabbing and sucking on
Body oil, fine talcum powder or lotion for back rubs
Music CDs and a battery-operated player
Hairbrush, soap, towel and flannel, toothbrush and paste, and any other toiletries you want
Maternity pads (night-time sanitary pads will do) and spare pants

Keep a water spray in the fridge until you leave for hospital. It's great for gentle cool-downs during labour.

You might also want to take a camera or camcorder. Check with the hospital first, as some units don't allow filming.

A front-opening nightie (easier for breastfeeding)
Comfy clothes (such as a tracksuit and T-shirts)
Sandals or easy-fitting footwear
Knickers and maternity pads for heavy bleeding after birth
Nursing bras (at least two, as you can get sweaty in hospital and if your milk comes early your bra may get wet)
Towels (take one or two - your partner can bring in extras if you're required to stay longer)
Toiletries and cosmetics
Breast pads (to absorb leaks of colostrum and milk)
Magazines and books
Writing materials
Personal music player/radio and headphones
Biscuits and snacks
Favourite tea bags
Fruit juice/mineral water
Baby clothes
Nappies for your new baby

This was just from a website- I didn't actually take half of them but your needs may be different to mine so you can pick and choose Wink

I packed loads of things but there were only a few things I needed...

For me:

2 Nighties, for before you have your baby, (Internals, labour etc')
3 Pairs of pyjama's for after, much comfier if you take bleeding into account.
5-6 pairs of big knickers.
Breastpads.
A lot of maternity pads, good if you tear.
Maternity bra.
T shirt, and comfy trousers for coming home.
Socks.
Comfy shoes.
Slippers.
Dressing gown.
Vanity bag - Deoderant, shampoo/conditioner, hair brush, soft flannel, non fragranced soft soap, hair bands, toothbrush, toothpaste etc'.
Camera's

For baby -

Cotton wool balls (Hospitals advise warm water and cotton wall balls instead of wipes for the first month)
Nappies
4 sleepsuits
4 bodysuits
2 cardigans/matinee's
Newborn hat
Mittons
A blanket
Preferably not fleece as when they're born it can hold in too much heat.
Teddy for crib
Bottles, formula if your bottle feeding. (Bibs)

Hope this helps...

You really don't need all that stuff, some people use it and some don't.

I didn't bring and PJ's with me I just used their gowns because they were comfy
Slippers, didn't wear socks
Toothbrush and paste
Make up, didn't use it
I wore the same clothes from the day I came in
Hairbrush
Camera
Baby book

For baby:

Coming home outfit, it was HUGE on him
Socks, also HUGE
2 big soft blankies
A few recieving blankets
Few stuffed animals to put in his little bed

You don't need to bring pads, some people bring cards or music but I had no interest whatsoever to play games and such
They provide TV, so what else do you need. lol

Ummm...plenty of quarters or dollars for the snack machine for drinks or gum...

Thats really all I can think of at the moment

My hospital gave stinky baby lotion so I used my baby lotion, so maybe take a little bottle of that along

all I brought with me was a sleeper for baby,a coming home outfit for baby,an extra pair of socks for me and the baby book.Oh and the normal toiletries like toothbrush and toothpaste.
The hospital gowns were comfy enough for me,they provided maternity pads(ask them to freeze them for you for after the baby is born, trust me,a frozen pad on a sore spot like that is extremely nice!)
I was only in the hospital with my son for a day and a half so I didn't really need a lot of stuff.

My biggest advice would be to bring clothes for the baby that are one size too big.I brought all newborn clothes for when my son was born and he turned out to be over 10lbs so none of the newborn clothes fit him.

Good Luck! Hope you have an easy and wonderful delivery!

Here are the things you'll NEED:

Toiletries
Going-home clothes for you and baby
Car seat
Camera
Diapers/wipes/sanitary pads in case the hospital doesn't provide them

Here are things I'd strongly suggest:

Your own pillow
Socks
Calling card/change/cell phone for calls after the birth

Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - else is optional. You can bring pajamas if you want, but the hospital provides gowns and you might bleed on your own clothes. You can bring reading material or music if you want, but I personally was too distracted to use mine (plus I watched tv). As far as massage oils/lotions you might not want people touching you during labor.

Also, keep in mind that the hospital might send you home with lots of things as well. I'm not sure about Australia, but I know in America they give TONS of things. Between all the crap I'd packed for Alyvia and myself (90% of which I never used), we had two extra diaper bags, a breast pump, two packages of diapers, some just-in-case formula, a huge package of pads for me, a few bottles of baby shampoo and lotion, some nipple cream, a booger-sucker, an infant thermometer, alcohol wipes.... not to mention the flowers and gifts I received from visitors. We literally had to use two cars to bring it all home. Thank God my parents were there Shocked

i took way too much. All you really need is the esstials:
pj's
underwear quite a few pairs
breast pads
sani towels
1 or 2 extra bras
toothbrush and paste
hairbrush
camera
loose change for parking, vending machines etc
hairbrush and hair ties

baby:
nappies
wipes
outfit although you could just take one or two sleepsuits because a full blown outfit isn't needed
blanket
and bootles an formula if you're not going to breastfeed

I packed a bunch of crap, but all I used is:
(keep in mind I had a section and no labor, so I didn't need some things)
toiletries
going home outfit
slippers
robe
ponytail holder
brush
yep and that's about it
and of course a coming home outfit for the baby
I used the hospital's pads and gown.

Hmm, this is a hard one...kinda. Hospitals differ from country to country, and town to town really. My hospital provided everything, even those lifesaving mesh undies that held those giant mattress pads.
I didn't bring clothes for me to come home in as I went in to be induced and I changed into a gown right away, so those were clean.
-coming home outfit for baby
-robe for me
-slippers
-toiletries
-1 light blanket & 1 heavy blanket for baby
-carseat

i brought a lot of crap i didnt need either..

i used the mesh panties that the hospital provided since i was leaking like a sieve from my girlie bits and didnt want to ruin my underwear.(i'd rather ruin theirs lol) A change of cmfy clothes i used, i hate hospital gowns, but that was only after the catheter was removed and i could actually bend over to remove my pants because of the staples.

basically..

1 outfit for me
1 outfit for baby to come home in
slippers (those floors are FRIGID)
PILLOW is a must theirs are awful and u only get 1
camera
hair brush
toothpaste and toothbrush
scrunchi.

everything else, like blankets, toiletries, etc were provided for me so i didnt need the shampoo/conditioner that i packed.. and i didnt have time nor wanted to use the crossword puzzle book i brought, i was too busy playing with Caitlyn lol. (Jacob was in NICU the whole time so i couldnt play with him as much Sad)

I've been thinking a lot about that lol. I want to see if i can fit back in right away, but then again i don't want to depress myself right away either Confused But knowing me i'll try right away cause i'm so excited i might be able to wear something besides the 5 outfits i've been wearing for 6 months Laughing
