I have constant lower back pain. My periods are very heavy I use pads and tampons and still flood. I have trouble emptying my bowels and have to put preesure on a pad as I can feel the stall through the vaginal wall and I never seem to be able to get clean. I also leak urine. I have had 4 children and am 4 stone overweight. I am to embarrassed to go to my GP and would like to know if anyone has any ideas. I have read my symptoms on the internet and the only thing I can find is about a prolapse. Does this mean a hysterectormy. Please help, once again I am to embarressed to go to my GP

I have come across your post and although it has been here for a while, I note that no one answered. I would like to know if you went to the doctor because you do sound as though you are suffering quite badly. I agree with you, it does sound like a prolapse but that does not necessarily mean a hysterectomy! It is possible to repair the pelvic floor and for you to feel perfectly well again.

I do hope you went to the doctor.

thank you. Yes I did go to my doctor as I can not carry on like this. The doctor confirmed a uterine and rectocele prolapse. I have an appointment at the hospital this coming monday and am dreading it. If they just repair the pelvic floor do you have any idea what the recovery time is. I am a nursery nurse and have quite a demanding job. In one way I hope they suggest a hysterectory as my periods are so bad. At my age (46) I am not going to have any more children and if the recovery for a repair is about the same as a hysterectory I might as well see if I can have it done and be finished with the whole thing. Thank you for replying, I do keep checking and hoping.
