Q: cleansing stomach to cure gas

For about a year now I've been having severe problems with gas. They come very often and smell like the foulest thing you've ever smelled. I'm pretty sure my stomach should be cleansed. For a period of over a year I was forced to eat sandwiches on a daily basis, more often than not two a day. And even when I eat cooked food I eat a lot of meat and other food that is hard to digest. On top of it all I'm a real food lover so I over eat almost with every meal.

How should I go about cleansing my stomach? Should I just not eat for a couple of days and drink a lot of water and tea or are there some products I should use?
