i recently started taking the generic brand for seasonale..and of course with the wonderful luck i have i am due to get my period on the day i leave for my christmas vacation. does anyone know if i take the placebo pills the week before im scheduled to and then start the next month will i get my period that week of the placebo's (even though its early) or will i still get it when im normally supposed to? would it be easier to just skip the placebo week and start the next pack and just wait another 3 months to get a period?

Why don't you stick to the plan. Messing with the pill throws your body into a frenzy . I wouldn't play arlouind with anything. If you are due on that date then let it be.

Absolutely do NOT do that. You cannot cannot cannot shorten the active pills, you MUST take 21 of them. What you can try instead is, when your placebo week starts, go to a new pack and just don't have a placebo week. You may end up getting your period anyway or spot all month, but at least you won't get pregnant - which COULD happen if you shorten your active pills.

I have the exact same problem.

I am on Seasonale (generic) and my period is due this coming March, during my week of vacation.

The poster Eiri did not exactly answer the question, though. I understand why it would not be a good idea to skip pills on a 21 day cycle but Seasonale is an 84 day cycle.

Can I skip a week of pills on Seasonale, basically giving myself a 70-something day cycle and getting my period a week before it's due? And then on my week of vacation, I start a new cycle of Seasonale pills..

I don't want to just skip my period in general and start another 3 month pack because I will spot like crazy...

Ah, then if Seasonal is a longer cycle then yes, you could move the placebo week forward (backwards? lol). As I stated in my post, you can't go any shorter than 21 days. Anything longer than that, and shortening it is fine. So if the cycle is normally 80 something days then moving the placebo week back so you're on active pills for 72 days for that month would be fine.

seasonal
I take seasonal so I don't get migraines every month when I get a period. My doctor said it's OK to start new pack if you are going on vacation during placebo week, then resume placebo if ou want or just wait till next month. Then I continued to get migraines in the placebo weeks, so she has me skip over them and writes my presciption that way so I can refill it earlier.
