Anyone suffer from SAD here? I think I do- and I'm thinking about buying one of those light things. Has anyone tried them? Do they work?

While I do not suffer from SAD, I have heard very positive (anecdotal) things about light therapy and those light things. Just be careful how you do it so you don't end up with eye fatigue and other symptoms. I'm sure you'll do ample research before dropping the bucks on a lightbox. They are not cheap!

Ah, it's SAD season again. It's my first winter without meds in awhile. I'm going to try to maybe go tanning once a week or something to see if it works before I spend a fortune on one of those lights. So far it's been a very gloomy, cold november, and I've been doing fine. I have, however, heard rave reviews on some of the SAD lights they have on the market. Apparently they do wonders.

It's dark by like 4:30 around here (I suppose for you too, Marvel!) and I just hate it!! My mom has a consumer reports account lol, maybe I'll have her check it out for me.

definitely. Pass along any info. I want to try the light this year if it happens to get too bleak for me. And, yes, I walked to work at 4:30 today and the street lights were already on. Luckily it was snowing so it seemed sort of romantic. So far I've been ok, but January and February are my worst months ever. Wish me Luck!

Here's what I've learned-

It should put off at least 10,000 lux
It should have white light, not blue
You should use it in the morning for at least a half hour of just sitting there by it (perhaps reading a book?)
It will probably cost around $200

So I'm going to try and see what the requirements are and if my hubby could make one for me Smile

Found some good resources though, the Cleveland Clinic is a really great resource for depression
