Q: Anxiety caused by anesthesia?

I was recently put under anesthetic to have my appendix taken out. When they put me under they didn't tell me when I was going to fall asleep at all. They put the mask over my face and the next thing I knew I was struggling to wake up. Now when I try to sleep my heart pounds or races. could this be anxiety caused by my subconscious not wanting to be knocked out agian? How do I make it stop?
