Q: Birthday Party

Genevas b-day is Wednesday, and we will be having a Lu'au party. I have a friend who used to live in Hawaii and is going to do some traditional dancing (cool!). I am making a cake with green colored coconut on top and little palm trees. We will be doing the limbo, too. Anybody have any ideas for other games/decorating/activities that 6 year olds and grown ups will enjoy? I can't believe she is going to be 6! scared

My kids always enjoyed doing a little craft project that went along with the theme of the party we were having. For a luau theme, you could have them make flower leis out of foamie flowers with holes punched in the middle, cut up drinking straws as spacers and yarn (tape the ends so the yarn is easier to work with, like a shoelace).

AHH i have an idea! you could play "hot coconut" (like hot potato except with a coconut for the theme ) and whoever wins could get a prize!

These are great ideas! The hot coconut is perfect. Tipsy grown ups can enjoy that too! Also, I will look at the craft store for foam flowers. Thanks!

Party Results!
Her birthday was a hysterical maniacal blast. Imagine 6 grown ups, on crack, then shrunk down to 3 feet tall, and played at 2X speed. Talk about short attention span theatre! I decorated with sarongs in the windows, palm trees on the front door, flowers and leis, Lots of festive decor. The kids all had hawaiian skirts and leis to wear. I did punch with frozen pineapple rings for ice. It was really pretty. We had hawaiian music and a real hula dancer. Hannah was funny. She kept getting up and dancing with the hula dancer-it was so funy! The cake was a chocolate sheet cake with a small blue "lagoon" Palm trees and wo lawn chairs made out of Now N Later candy. I toopped the whole thing with coconut dyed green. I will try to load a pic of that. It was fun, but cery stressful and loud. We had a hula hoop contest, pass the coconut game, and pin the coconuts to the palm tree game. Lots of fun! Geneva opened the ridiculous "doodle pony" I got her and she actually screamed she was so happy. I swear she had tears in her eyes. She has wanted one of those dumb things forever. Anyway when everybody left I ended up with a horrible panic attack, so I was up for an hour and a half and finally took something. I laid there shaking for about a half hour and then fell asleep. I took another ativan this morning because i wasn't about to go through that again. Why did I have a panic attack? I couldn't tell ya.
