Q: Any Alternative to Cobra In Nj?

Hi;
I live in the state of New Jersey, and am currently unemployed.
I have been using COBRA to continue my medical insurance, but with my unemployment benefits about to run out, I am looking for a cheaper alternative.

So far, I have struck out while searching and applying for quotes online with companies that list alternative plans to COBRA.
It appears that most providers do not offer coverage to NJ residents. This is a problem I have been finding not only with health insurance, but auto insurance as well.
This state is corrupt when it comes to insurance, so no one wants to write policies here.

If you have any info you can provide for me, thank you very much.
Otherwise, I think I will have to move out of this state once and for all!

I am 51 years old, and am in excellent health. Non-smoker, no pre-existing conditions.

Thanks

FW

NJ Ind Health
If you are still in need of a plan I can help. I work for a larger health insurance broker in South Jersey and I sell quite a few individual health plans. Depending on where you are from in NJ, you should take a look at Horizon BCBS, Amerihealth, Oxford and Aetna. Different carriers are better in different parts of the state. The rates are identical whether you go direct to the carrier or through someone like me, a broker. Anyway, if you would like some guidance, send me a message and I can email you some info from the carriers. I have all the rates, plan descriptions etc...

Dear Sir: I too ahve a problem. My husband's COBRA runs out at the end of December. I am also having difficulty finding a job. I need to find an alternative before the benefits run out. I'd appreciate any help or advice you can give. We live in Bergen County, in a high rise co-op.
Thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir: Ehealthinsurance is way too expensive for us. Do you have a more affordable alternative to suggest?

There are also discount plans available that cover doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, dental, vision, etc. for people that can't afford or can't get insurance. May be of some interest to you.
