hey, i recently came off the birth control pill after being on it about 2 yrs, i'm aware that it can take a while for my periods to get back to normal but am concerned as myself and my partner had unprotected sex (forgot i was coming off pill!) I stopped my last pill on the friday had sex on the sunday and then had my 'period' withdrawal bleed from mon-fri. i know usually your covered during the pill free week but because i didn't start taking it again i wont have been protected on the sunday. now my period is 3 weeks late and im pretty concerned. does ne1 have any clue as to whether i could have got pregnant from this one incident as the period i had on the monday would not have been classed as a real period.

You are covered during the pill free week, EVEN IF you do no start the next pack.

The REASON why you are protected is not because of starting the next pack, it is because of the last active pill pack you took.

So you were protected during your pill free week, BUT ANY sex after that would be open to pregnancy.

thats confusing coz the fpa website said that you are only protected during ur pill free week if u start the next pill pack on time and that lengthening the pill free period for more than 7 days will make you unprotected from the first day of ur pill free week. hmmm maybe i shud just go n get a test to be sure!

You would not be pregnant yet.

It takes 2 FULL WEEKS after sex until a pregnancy test is accurate.

We have always advised our patients that if they stop the pill, they are still protected during the placebo week.
