Some women have reported that have they always have reliable, early results with them but that the lines are very light. Be sure to check the expiration date on the package, and if you do get a positive, you can confirm it at your gynecologist's office with another urine HPT test or a blood test.

whether they are 99 cents or 99 dollars, they have the same type of device in them that detects the hormone. The expensive ones, like clothing, you are just paying for the name they print on it.

i used a first response pregnancy test and the result came back positive. so i went and got 2 of the cheap $1.00 tests and they both came back negative. my doctors visit concluded that i was indeed pregnant. a friend of mine also used three of the $1.00 pregnancy tests when she was pregnant and all three said negative. so my answer would be no that they are not as accurate.

Some HPT detect hCG as low as 15 others don't detect less than 50. Cheap ones may be the latter and wouldn't pick up the hormone until a few days later because HCG in a pregnant woman doubles every few days.
