Q: Discomfort in scrotum

For the past week or so, I've had discomfort, such as tingling and sometimes a feeling of fullness in my scrotum. It feels like it's usually near the back of the testicles, and has been felt on both, but mostly on the left testicle. I have not been able to find any lumps, with the exception of a small one on the back of the left testicle that I think may be the epididymus. I would think that lumps would be relatively easy to find because most sites say they are usually the size of a pea. Please let me know if I'm wrong. I was wondering if this condition was common, and how long to wait before deciding if I need to see a doctor. Thanks.

The epididymus is NOT hard. It should feel veiny and kind of squishy. If you feel any hard lumps growing anywhere on your testicles, you should get them checked out immediately. Furthermore, the epididymus is present on both testicles, so when you check both, make sure you check to see if both testcles feel the same on the back. The Epididymus should have roughly the same consistency on both testicles.

You could have an infection of your scrotum/testicles/epididymus or it could be something worse like cancer or benign lumps. Nonetheless, it's very important to get them checked. Infection and cancer can spread to other organs quite easily if not treated!
