Q: Mouth Virus And Wisdom Teeth!!!!

I'm a little skeptical about my dentist so that's why I sought out this forum.

My wisdom teeth started to bother me about a week ago. Two days later, I find that the roof of my mouth and the gums near it sting whenever I touch it or drink anything cold. The day after, there is a cold sore on the inside of my mouth and a lump on my tongue. My teeth continue to cause me severe pain.

I go to my dentist and he tells me he can't take out the wisdom teeth because he can't fit the instrument in my mouth so he prescribes me some pills to take and tells me to come back in a week. A few days pass and I wake up in a pool of bloody drool so I go see him again. This time, I bring extra attention to my sore gums and he says that it's a mouth virus in which there is no treatment. He then says he'd rather wait until the virus is gone to pull out the teeth because it could worsen my condition if I do it now, which could very well take up to a month! I can't live like this for a month - I've been living off of soup and ice cream for a week.

So my question is, are there really no ways to treat mouth viruses? (if it's even what he says it is) and should I wait until it's completely gone until I get my teeth taken out?

I would really appreciate any replies! THANK YOU!

You should go to a different dentist to get a second opinion if you don't trust him

By your symptoms it sound to me like an Herpes Simplex infection. Do some blood test analyses to know if it is that. Herpes can be treated but it does not have cure. Stress and manipulation from wisdom teeth surgery can worse the condition that was maybe the reason of why your didn't want to do the extractions. get information about herpes and it treatment and do the surgery when you are symptoms free
