Q: Black Friday

I have never attempted to shop on Black Friday but now I could just kick myself. I am SO directionally impaired it affects my life, seriously. I could have a google map in front of me and I would still get horribly lost. So, I want the GPS Garmin Nuvi 360. This one is small and actually tells you right and left. None of this whole west and east thing. People who are seriously impaired like me just don't work with directions like that.

So, it is half off at circuit city and the sale started at 5:00. we tried to order it online to no avail. The site says no longer available in stores. My husband is attempting to get it now and it's probably gone. Sad I have been stalking this thing for five months now waiting for this kind of price.

Bye Bye Nuvi. I will continue to get lost for another year or so.

Yeah! They had two left! My husband said the line was about two hours long then he found a "hidden line" so he will be out of there within 20 min. He has to work today and now will be working pretty late. Oh well, I got my NUVI. My life will be much easier!!

I'm happy you got your navigation system.

I have absolutely no desire to go shopping today. Shopping isn't one of my favorite things to do in the first place, but to do it on the busiest day of the year is just silly.

My shopping is nearly done anyway.

We went to walmart and got toys, 12 dvds, a printer, and a food processor. All for 100 bucks.

Why's it called Black Friday? Sounds like it should be a day of mourning?

No kidding Jules. I usually call it Crazy Friday not Black Friday. Hopefully someone will enlighten us as to why they call it BF.

Jesse, you got what?? Seriously all of that under $100?? Jesse, you are amazing that you actually woke up this morning and braved the crowds. For that deal, it was worth it.

I hate shopping anyways but this deal was too good to pass up. I am so thankful my husband went instead of me with two kids in tow. One who would want everything in sight and the other who wants me (to eat) all the time.

It IS a day of mourning...for those of us who have to work :[ hahaha.

I'm scheduled for two, and Borders is about 5 minutes away, but I'm leaving 40 minutes early because the mall area is going to be insane.

Supposedly, it's called Black Friday because the stores have been operating in the red (in debt or breaking even) all year long and this one day of shopping is the thing that pushes them into the black (they actually turn a profit) That's what I was told, not sure how true it is but it makes sense to me.

Just checked wikipedia, it says that profit thing is probably false and they think it has more to do with the hectic nature and traffic of the day. Whatever the reason, they've got some good deals! Laughing oh, just saw your link, b... Embarassed

Yay! I'm glad you got one! Bac has one (not sure if its the same type) and its wonderful! We use it when we go on trips and such. It kept me from getting lost in KC so I was happy!

And I definately slept in this morning! I used to go out shopping but with Brayden there was no way I was going to wake him up to go! My dad, sister, and Bac went shopping though and they left the house at 3:30 AM! No joke! They said the stores were crazy! And my dad said he was glad I stayed at home with Brayden, because he did see one family with their ity bity baby out at 3:30 in the 15 degree weather! Crazy!

you don't have it there. it part of the thanksgiving tradition, most people in america have today off and they get to go shopping.

a lot of stores are starting to offer huge sales online though.

Hey you are not too far from Bellingham WA are you? My brother lives there and says a lot of Canadians from Vancouver BC head out really early to get the sales.

If you can get through. We tried so hard to purchase that darn thing online. The web was SO SLOW. Then it said that the item was "out of stock." We even tried to order it through our local store on line and it bumped us out. It was extremely annoying. That process took us (actually hubby) 45 minutes. That was just based on one experience, so perhaps it was just there computer system (circuit city).
