Prenatal Vitamins...??

So when I went to my first doctors
appointment they didnt give me a
perscriptions for prenatal vitamins....I
am on some but they are only the ones I
bought at Wal*Mart. Should they have given
me a perscription for some??

You don't get a prescription for
pre-natals . They are available at any
drug store and walmart as well. The ones
you are on are the ones you should on.
There are no other super brands hiding
behind the pharmacists station. lol

i've never been offered a prescription for
prenatals. you can always ask though, your
insurance probably covers them so you
might save some money getting them that
way.
i don't even take actual prenatals, i just
make my own vitamin cocktail to get what i
would get from a prenatal.

I was not sure becuase my mom was making a
big deal that they didnt give me a
presciption for them, im fine with the
Wal*Mart ones (lol) I just wanted to make
sure my baby was getting the right ones.

No prob. Just keep in mind vitamins are
vitamins . The walmart brand carries all
the same as the brand name ones.

I got a prescription for prenatal vitamins
for Ava and for this one. I'm on Pre-Nate
Elite. After 3 months he'll change me to
a different one with omega-3s in it. It's
strange you guys don't get prescriptions
for that. Things are so different.

I guess it's really up to your dr. and
depending on the patients needs. My dr.
actually told me to stop taking the
prenatals and just take iron and folate
cause they were making awfully nauseous.

Yeah, with Ava he told me to do that until
3 months, then he put me on the ones with
the omega-3 capsules. He told me he'd do
the same this time, but so far, so good.

ive been takeing flinstones tablets though
because mine made me sick lol

Yeah my dr. said not to take flinstone
because they have too little for the
amount that you and your baby need.

yeah
they put me on iron pills for that
but every other thing such as teh folic
acid levels and everything is the same as
the prenatals they prescribed me
but i had to take 3 flinstones a day at
first
and now i take 2 and iron pills

I guess you can ask... I just assumed you
automatically get a prenatal.

i was never written a prescription. I had
the WalMart kind too.
To be honest I stopped taking mine after
the first trimester
