Cherry Angiomas
Posted: 11-23-07 03:00am

I am a male in my mid 50's and for the past 3 months I have noticed more and more cherry angiomas (?) (tiny blood filled lumps) appearing on my skin.

They are coming up on my chest, back, tummy, arms, forearms, and thighs. They just continue to accumulate and now I have around 60 of them.

These things are permanent and I dont know when they are going to stop, if at all.

Thanks for your help.

The cause for cherry angiomas is still unknown. They are generally benign and can be removed, most typically appear on the torso (as in your case). Have you had a skin biopsy to to confirm the diagnosis?

You can also ask you doctor:

If left alone, will the angioma continue to enlarge?

What is the method of removal?

After removal, will there be a scar?

Can cherry angiomas be prevented?

If the cherry angiomas are injured, how do you stop the bleeding?

Are they hereditary?

Does exposure to the sun intensify the color or size?

angiomas dont usually get larger---ive had them before and they usually stay the same size and then eventually go away on their own
