i just found out these tens machines range from expensive to not expensive...ALso can they cause any brain damage or promote and help the brain out?

Do they relax the muscles and increase blood flow in the area of placing the deive? for example you have a pinched nerve, would that increase local blood flow to that area even tho it is pinched?

(I am not trying to advertise so please stop taking down my posts... this device i don't even know if it is safe i just want to know if someone has used it as they say not to use it on humans but on the site humans have used it)


Do tens machines work with compressed tmj joints which i have?

ALso the problem i have is compressed nerves is that a form of trigeminal neuralgia from tmj as the pain is constant 24/7 and things that help it are muscle relaxants like magnesium and lorezapam...I need less compression in that area and putting the tongue on my roof of my mouth to lubricate the joint exercise seems futile ...inflammation was terrible 2 weeks ago now that is all gone thanks to msm and glucosimine with chondoirtin...but i don't want to keep taking ativan so i would like to know more alternative therapies until my joint eventually heals and doesn't spasm any longer and i can eventually recapture it without any tension or it going back out...

that thing about the tens causing brain damage is a bunch of balogna(i didnt take down your posts) the tens machine has been used on humans for a long time. I have no brain damage and let me tell you ive been on it more than any person i know.

yes this will work for you. they probably blasted a poor hampsters brain out by using to high voltage. if you use a transformer to tens yea it will kill you or damage your brain.

that is why you need to use it witth a doctors supervision. i have a tens unit. dont go searching for bad things on the internet because you will find it

hey i went to see the nueromuscular dentist today and was told i have a skeletal problem and that there is nothing besides surgery that can be done to fix it. I was told i could attempt a 24 hour splint but in all honesty was told it wont work..I have breathing obstruction apparently which explains my shallow breath as my bottom jaw is too big for my top blocking airways. According to the NMD i will need jaw replacement and they are going to have to break both bottom and top jaws as i have more than just tmj. I have a crossbite and many other problems tmj being one of them. I was given the name of a top surgeon from the NMD who is in the midwest and i am from the eastcoast. I am really upset about this as i was told last year i needed invasive surgery and now apparently according to the nmd you recommeneded i still do. I don't know what to do surgery is a last resort but i am dying here i have no life anymore and don't want to live. I believe if i never dislocated my jaw i would be fine but according to the NMD i would probably have issues anyway b/c of my underbite and skeletal problems...I just don't know what to do..there is no relief for me in sight.

from what i've read about invasive surgery i rather just do neuromuscular exercises and see a chiropractor...the nmd rubbed my neck and that region was particularly tense and painful...I'm gonna follow exercises in a book i have for all the muscles in the body...I don't believe yet everything i was told today but if i don't improve in the next few months after doing specific exersices in a book i bought for chronic pain i will know surgery is the only other option...I also plan on getting a tens device or that other device..

oh and btw the tens is fda approved--if surgery is your last option then do it. i did and it was probably the best decision that i ever made. make sure that you have a very good surgeon.

i don't think jaw replacement surgery would fix my pain problem although it will probably fix my posture or it could make it worse...the nmd i saw was more concerned about my underbite, crossbite and sleep apnea more than the tmj but jaw replacement surgery is huge and my only concern is my pain in my tmj not to fix my facial appearance which is just a tad off..I think arthroscopy could solve this or a tens device..pretty sure the main problem is a pinched nerve otherwise i have no complaints but it is huge...the pain is a 9/10 24/7 right now i feel like killing myself but i take an ativan and it helps bring the pain down quite a bit...I hate taking drugs btw it kills me to take it...the pain right below my ear is the only thing that is bugging me and the only reason why there is pain is from a pinched nerve still and some pressure or maybe just all pinching of a nerve i am not quite sure it is very weird..i feel it all in my ear think maybe i should get artrhoscopy so the pinched nerve can be relieved as it localized in one area..the surgery you had was non invasive mine would be complete reconstruction if i were to get what the she recommended and i am not into doing such a thing b/c i have done the research and that surgery has no guarentees of helping with pain...some people get it done for cosmetic reasons and have screwed up pain the rest of their lives although you are right there are some great outcomes sometimes but i don't think i would have a good outcome with my luck even with the best surgeon...
according to my research the best approach would be conservative so a less invasive surgery which is already drastic should be tried before total reconstruction.

I can live with the bite i have just the dislocation and the pinching of the nerve is the problem and arthroscopy is for that.

on a scale of 1-10 what is your pain level now and do you think the TENS device will help with the pinched nerve or possibly pressure..i wish i were hooked up with one when i saw the nmd but she stayed with me a long time and we didn't get into the tens yet...not sure i'll go back but still maybe...

the first thing she should have done was hook you up to the tens. you cant really tell much unless you do. Mine is about a 3 at present and if i hooked up it would feel so much better. if i was at 10 it would probably go downt to 3

for some reason i can't get rid of the anxiety that is worse than the pain...Its not even normal anxiety its like my body is in fight or flight for no reason b/c there is compression on the joint still...How does one get rid of this without drugs b/c i tried everything but ativan is the only thing that kills the pain and rids me of the anxiety and soothes all the muslces in my body..It's like telling the body to stay calm when there is a knife pinching critical nerves which controls the parasynethic nervous system...Breathing and digestion are terrible and so is living like this..

i started using a pure msm powder and a glusamine msm cream and there is zero inflammation...All i have is anxiety that goes to my stomach and a constant heavy feeling in my ear and neck...I found out how to glide my jaw back in place but it never stays and also i know my whole body is out of alignment...I should see a chiropractor probably for this but i am working on exercises in a book i am reading on body alignment...I just wish i didn't have to take ativan to feel calm...I need the disc to stay in and regenerete the joint... hopefully i regnerate it completely within the next few months so i no longer need a drug for muscular pain... i tried high dose magnesium but it doesn't help like ativan...Maybe i should try taking more calcium with it...i also got a tdp lamp to hopefully increase blood circulation in the joint to heal it faster...

my joint has been getting thicker b/c of the supplements and when i put it in place it snaps louder but i know there is a lot of deterioration...I still have a pinching in my ear and my eyes are palpitating on occasion...I wonder if this can be solved...Also the postrure exercises i am doing are starting to work as my shoulders lift my head up more in only a couple of days but my fear is i will never get rid of this tension pain that is centered in my ear area and completely rid tmj 100%...that nmd is definitely wrong i just have a dislocated joint and when its in place i would be fine... I managed to narrow down the pain to one very small area rather than bother me on my neck by correcting my posture...I need to work more on my breathing exercises i guess as another stage to recover the joint...the pain is still 24/7 but its a dull constant ear pain and pinched nerve so i guess its somewhat of an improvement compared to before..

last night i applied heat to the tmj area for the first time being microwaved and an extended period of time at least 30 minutes...i noticed all the pain went away about 90% and i was able to relax for the first time in a loong long time...I should have tried this a long time ago (applying moist heat that is)..it was better than ativan...i tried it today but it seems my stomach muscles weren't able to relax as much as i got them to relax last night...i read tmj is connected to the stomach meridian on various sites and mine are definitely too tight causing nautiau...there is still pinching going on i just hope i can rid the stomach tension as that is basically the main concern at this point and i was able to get rid of it last nite but failed on trying it today...is there a topical cream that is able to help the tmj besides a heating pad? I already use msm/glucosimine cream but i need something that is able to heat is like icyhot but isn't toxic...

whenever i take the supplements my jaw snaps so much louder particularly msm...does that mean its healing? I believe i will cure this thing 100% its just a matter of more research and trying a few more things and relying on doctors is something i no longer do after reading all the horror stories of what they do do...NMD probably is the only good doctor for this or a conservative surgeon but surgery seems like something that is out of the question unless somehow they can guarantee me that it would be fixed... i will keep updating day to day b/c thats what i do each day i try to narrow stuff down to come closer to getting a life back..

A surgeon is not allowed to garuntee that it will fix anything. tmd wont cause cancer. Its a problem with one joint and affects only that joint--it can referr pain but that doesnt meant that there is a problem with that particular organ. If you have read horror stories then you havent read my story.

YOur jaw should not snap at all. no matter what you are taking.

the reason my jaw snaps is when it relocates...otherwise its still dislocated going in and out but the sound has gotten much louder...I thought a lot of people with dislocated jaws or tmj have this problem...even when i relocate it tho there is still a lot of tension near the ear...when i say cancer i mean as a secondary effect of a poor immune system due to tmd...basically im worried about my digestion as for me maybe not others it is being effected by the tmj and therefore tmj has a cascading effect on my body maybe for others they don't tho..i have been taking pepperment a lot and think it is working however for the stomach spasms will keep you posted on it...

tmj does not effect the immune system. your diet on the other hand may. you cant blame everything on tmd. all people that have tmd may not necessarily have jaw poping. i did for a while and for the past 5 years i havent yet i have major problems. Your diet would help with your digestion as well. you have to have a healthy well rounded diet.

i have a very healthy organic diet and i don't eat a lot b/c of this condition...a lot of problems come from tmd and they are documented..IBS, breathing problems there are so many nerves in the tmj,,...It varies from individual to individual..chronic pain does effect the immune system.. b/c of the dislocated joint i have a pinching pain 24/7 that used to be a stabbing pain..for you tho it might not be a problem at all depending on how sensitive the person is to the area affected...

i do not know of any one that has ibs etc because of tmd---ive been doing this for an extremly long time and ive talked to my docs about this too. they agree with me by the way.

maybe it is another cause then i don't know reeally i still think it is likely the tmj but since u do know more than most i will take your word for it...
