Q: Peeing Out the Fat

I like that saying Laughing

I just wanted to say that I'm SO proud of myself! I finished my last can of mountain dew this morning. I'm going cold turkey, I don't need it. I bought some diet cherry pepsi for when I get urges to have a soda but it's nasty tasting so I'll stick to water I think! I just finished 32 oz of water & I have peed, I kid you not, 3 times in the last 45 minutes! But that saying "peeing out the fat" is sticking with me! There's no point to this post, I'm just proud of myself, I'm doing good dieting this time around so far.

If you drink the diet soda enough, you'll get used to it and not want regular anymore. About 3 years ago, I was diagnosed as a hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and they told me I should switch to drinking diet soda. At first, it was awful. I finally got used to it and now diet mountain dew is my absolute fav. It tastes just like regular to me. Also, now regular soda tastes like pure sugar to me; I can't stand it!!! Good luck with your diet!!

Thanks! I used to drink diet pepsi all the time up until a few months before I got pregnant, then I got completely addicted to mountain dew. Well then I found out I had gestational diabetes & the doc told me if I was going to drink soda to drink diet so I stopped drinking soda altogether. I started right back up though after Kaylee was born & have been drinking it pretty heavily ever since.. I hope I can stick with this. Mountain dew is evil.. Mountain dew is evil.. Keep telling myself that Wink

Mountain Dew looks too much like urine to me Neutral Laughing

I'm obsessed with Coke, but it's kind of expensive and I feel bad buying it, so I only get it every once in a while. We mainly drink water, and I've been drinking milk lately. Koolaid is cheap and easy to make too, but it has a lot of sugar in it which never does anybody any good. Ooh, I'm also in love with sweet tea, but that has sugar in it too.

Hmm. Laughing

Haha Laura... The next time I want to pop open a can of mountain dew I'll think of you saying it looks like urine! I drink TONS of milk, which is probably another factor to me not losing any weight before so I've been slowing down on that too! I love Cherry Coke, but it makes my teeth feel gross!

It does! It looks like neon urine! Laughing

I loooove Cherry Coke! Well, I don't love it as much as I used to. I get my Cherry Cokes at Sonic now, where they take regular coke and add cherry juice to it. Now the canned stuff tastes like crap. I think I'm a bit spoiled on the good stuff.

Milk is really good for you! Instead of cutting back, maybe switch to 2% or 1%. (Skim milk tastes like white water if you're used to regular milk). I'd buy a half gallon of 2% for you and keep giving Kaylee whole. Very Happy

We use Equal to sweeten our tea and kool-aid. It tastes just like sugar. I can't remember the last time that I actually bought real sugar. I use artificial sugar for everything.

The closest I would ever personally come to an artificial sweetener would be Splenda. I don't trust any of those other ones. Too many chemicals, too many cancer horror stories for me. Neutral

Not knocking your choice, of course! I would just personally rather limit my sugar intake than switch to an artificial sweetener.

Thanks Nancy!

I've never had a Cherry Coke made like that Laura, it sounds good though!

That's what I've been thinking about the milk, getting me some 2% along with Kaylee's whole milk.

I've never tried anything made with Splenda or Equal. I don't think I'd be able to get Shane to drink it, he'd find *something* wrong with it even if there was no difference from regular sugar!

Well they make Splenda from real sugar, so it tastes more like sugar. But it doesn't taste just like sugar. I've never encountered a sweetener that didn't taste funny to me.

I understand that. I used to be that way, but when you think about it there is something bad about everything you put into your body. Plus, when you CAN'T have the real stuff, you'll settle for just about anything. I use splenda for baking, but for some reason I don't like it to sweeten my drinks. Equal just makes them taste better.

They can be sometimes. I have found that it takes less of a sweetener than real sugar.

My husband wasn't up to the idea of sweeteners at first either. But for about a month, I made his tea with Equal without him knowing it. He never said one thing about it and one night I asked him how his tea was. He said it was great and asked why. I told him I had used Equal...we've used it ever since.

Do you get used to the aftertaste after a while? That's what really kills me.
