Q: Slight Morning Sickness 2 Weeks After Termination

Is this normal? I had a surgical abortion almost 2 weeks ago, and on the whole i am fine - energy returned and bleeding very nearly stopped. I had a mirena coil fitted during the procedure.
Now, i am still feeling a little queasiness in the afternoons, plus i am very gassy (! sorry !) and feel quite bloated. Im trying to separate what may be after effects of the op, and what may be side-effects of the mirena coil (which i am regretting choosing a bit after the stories i have heard).
So - how long do the 'pregnancy' symptoms last? nayone know?

It's certainly possible to still have the hormones from pregnancy in your body and to still have some of the residual side effects I believe. The side effects should fade soon.

Mirena is a perfectly safe form of birth control Smile Of course there are horror stories, but remember: If most women had horrible things happen to them, do you really think it would be legal? Norplant was taken off the market for that exact reason. So if something IS legal and has been for many years, it's safe Smile

I LOVED Mirena, the ONLY problem I had with it was everyday bleeding that just did not stop.

No hormonal side effects, NOTHING.

I switched to PARAGARD, which is hormone free, shortly after my mirena was removed.

Eiri sorry for the interruption but I couldn't help to say you that not all legal drugs are safe. I took accutane who has been in the market for quite long time and many horror stories being reported, law suits etc and actually I had the chance to meet online the folk whose he was the reason why Roche pharma had to put in their label that the drug can cause cheilitis, the drug screw up his whole life and quite frankly should I had taken more than what I took, what the doctor told me to take I don't know what would have been of my life today. I got the scare of my lifetime. Luckly I read a lot of the horror stories so I decided to take lower dosage than what the doctor prescribed and stopped taking it long before the doctor would tell me to stop. Thank god for the internet. You have to know Eiri that when it comes to law suits this pharmaceutical companies are ultra rich and can afford to pay lawyers until you can't afford yours anymore.

The drug needs to in the market for at least 20 years to begin seeing what are the long term side effects. That Depo shot that you are using is one scary drug I would never begin to consider because the long term side effects are just comming out, the law suits are comming out and I wouldn't be surprised that drug is going to be taken off the market. My advice if you want to take, read well the drug labels and the side effects they list. When they list a side effect is for a REASON! Depo shot label it's already telling you it can cause OSTEOPOROSIS. Take their word seriously! They really mean it!!

Accutane is unsafe if taken by the wrong person. Just as not everyone can work well on Ritalin, not everyone can take accutane. I have heard of teens committing suicide when on accutane: they were borderline before getting on it and they were not properly monitored.

Every drug can cause a horrible disease and reaction so that is no excuse to call it dangerous. Accutane MUST be taken under extremely careful watch by a doctor and the patient.

Every other drug must be carefully monitored. Every drug has the risk of being dangerous, even asprin.

There is no way you can predict how the drug accutane will react on you. Let me show this picture of this guy which accutane ruined his life

http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/davec/Attach ment/JackJuly.jpg

This boy was monitored on a monthly basis during his accutane course. He had severe acne which is what made him be a good candidate for the drug.
Point is Eiri, this is a LEGAL drug. And this is what it can cause.

If I were you I would have frequent bone scans for taking that depo shot. Do your own research as not all doctors will properly monitor you. You have to look for yourself!

Of course you can't always predict it, but I refuse to black-name any medication just because of a few freak cases.

I absolutely love my mirena! I had it put in after a stillbirth and had no problems. i took it out 6 weeks ago to TTC but after deciding I actually didn't want a child, I got it put back in on Wednesday. So far, so good again for me
