Well a friend of mine and a friend of my mothers gave my fiancee and I a few baby things today. All of them had been used and I knew this before I agreed to take them from them. But they're really dirty and worn out and I don't really want to use them. I just don't want to be rude and don't know how to tell them. It's not that I'm trying to be stuck up or anything it's just that I don't want my baby using something that is far from being in good condition. We're perfectly capable of buying our own baby things and I was looking forward to it. Ugh I just don't want to be mean, it's really nice that they'd give me the stuff it's just not in good shape. A few things I'm gonna use and wash of course but others are just not an option. How do I give them back or not use them without seeming like a witch? Oh, plus they're heavy smokers and all the stuff smells like cigerette smoke. They're are so many random stresses to pregnancy! Confused

I'd just be honest with them & say you appreciate them passing them down to you but you were looking for things in a little better condition! But that's just me! There's nothing I hate more when someone tells me they have some used clothes they'll give me & then I get them & they're stained or stink. One of my friends was so excited to be able to give me her old baby clothes & when I got them, all I could smell was kerosene & no matter how much I washed them I couldn't get that smell out. Turns out she had kept the garbage bag full of old clothes in the trunk of her car where they put their kerosene jugs when they have them filled! Ugh!

Ah I've dealt with the exact same problem!! My mil seems to think that my fiance and I can't afford baby clothes, and it really irrates me (to say the least!). So she's given us hand me downs from relatives, and if I don't accept them, then she gets all whiny and complains for days how we think we're so rich and we're so ungrateful! *SCREAMS* I just don't use the stuff if it's not in good condition. If they get mad, let them or say that he grew out of them before you could use them. lol. Smile

Yep, that's exactly what'll happen to us. Unfoutunatly for us they didn't give us any baby clothes so I can't use your excuse lol but I'll keep it in mind.

They gave us two horribly stained carseats that are torn and what not. Seriously I think they should have thought twice before giving us them. We're waiting another week to know the sex then we're buying a stroller car seat combo. I guess I've just got to be honest, if they say I'm being unappreciative then I'll just blame the hormones. Or I'll make Jon tell them, they don't like him anyways lol Smile

Well I hope you get a great travel system! Smile My mil tried giving me a bouncer that was for a girl and a ugly swing. Sad I told her that I had already bought them. Haha.

She gave me a playard as well and told me to use it as a crib, because "that's what everyone uses now a days". I just wanted to scream at her. Needless to say, I have the playard but it's stored away and she'll never know if I use it or not.

lol what she doesn't know won't hurt her. My Mom also thinks a playard would make a great crib. I have not problem being honest with her though and she's kind of backed off the idea. Are you having a girl?

I've asked everyone to NOT buy us anything until we know the sex. And to check with us before they buy anything (our baby, we want to pick some of the stuff out!)

No I'm having a boy..due next week. I returned half the stuff I got from my baby showers because people don't even bother asking you what you want or need or going off a registry.

Aww that's so exciting you could have him anyday now. How do you sleep? I'd be up every night waiting for contractions.

Lol Yes I'm sure. I know they're painful, but I want him out. I'm to the point that I don't care if he comes on Thanksgiving...as long as he comes. Ah. lol

haha it's okay that you keep saying it. Smile I can tolerate it from you. Not from the million customers that I get everyday.

LOL I'm such a complainer this week! I'm surprised Thomas hasn't killed me yet.
