Thank you to all who responded. I too have had this for probably 20 years. When I told my doctor about mine, he sent me to a heart specialist, an ent doctor, and an internal med specialist, and scheduled an upper GI. My heart was normal. The ent guy checked for swelling and tumors (none) then gave me meds for anxiety (which I lost & they never did replace)and billed me for Globus. The internal doctor said they had a procedure where they stretched the throat but I could not imagine going through with that. My thyroid was normal. The GI doctors said I had a hiatal hernia and prescribed Nexium which did seem to help. I then went to an Acupuncture Physician and she told me in Chinese medicine the condition was known as Plum Pit Throat. She treated me for it and that seemed to help but did not totally relieve it. I also noticed a build-up of phlegm on occasion and concluded that I possibly had food allergies so I stopped eating dairy for two weeks and that really helped. When I started back on dairy, the phlegm reappeared. The same thing happened with bread and foods that contain preservatives or additives. I have also been a big coffee drinker but noticed that made my throat worse. So I gave up coffee, dairy, bread, and now meat and am living on fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds. I am much better but the throat tightening is not totally gone. I think I may have some acid reflux but I can not feel that. I just feel better when I eat less. So, what in the world is it?
