Hello all! Let me just tell you that I am 28 years old and about to have a 2-level fusion tomorrow. getting ready to go to my pre-op now. The Neurosuergon told me that the fix might be worse than the problem, but I have been on very strong painkillers for 4 years now and while they take care of most of the pain, I am addicted to them and have problems keeping in my supply dates. I just want to have the surgery so that eventually I can get off of the pills. I have been al the way up to Methadone and had a real bad experience with it and said thats enough...I want my life back so if anyone has any advice I need some right now. I don't want my life to revolve around pain pills any more and I am scared that I will be worse off when I am through. Anyone been through a L4-5 and L6-S1 fusion before.....oh yeah, I have 6 lumbar vertebrea instead of 5...weird huh!

I had that surgery just about one year ago. I am not going to lie to you. It was a very hard surgery and slow recovery, but well worth it. I am much better now and improving all the time.
Take it slow; follow all the directions; don't try to do too much too soon and you will be ok.
And make sure you have help at home for afterwards.
Good luck.
