asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 20th, 2007
From last few months, during the excretion, either the feces are too diluted with water or they are solid and very dark in color. Please tell me the possible reason of this. Rest everything is perfect. But yes, some times i need do excrete 2-3 times a day. This problem is always persistent from last 3-4 months

There doesn't seem to be a problem if you have bowel movements 2-3 times per day. However, 10-20 watery stools per day (diarrhea) are an example of a problem. The frequency of bowel movements depends upon not only a person's general state of health but also upon the person's dietary regime. Solid dark stools are not a problem, either. Black stools suggest intestinal bleeding and will be a problem to take seriously, should the case arise. if you suspect the presence of an intestinal infection can always request a microbiological stool sample be taken in for examination.
