Friendships Never Work For Me Posted: 11-19-07 21:49pm
I have now had two friendships with girls
that have went down the drain in 2 weeks
or less. This latest one which started
last Friday didn't even last 2 weeks! It
lasted a mere 2 days!! The girl had
bipolar disorder too and I thought she
would be more understanding since she had
it but I guess I was wrong or something?
I only asked her in the car Saturday
night, how long we would have to be
friends before we could be in a
relationship? She said she wouldn't rule
it out but she would have to be with me
for a year! I thought that was very long
and just couldn't grasp it.
I am so depressed now and don't know how I
can go on with my life. I met her at the
College I attend and she was very
friendly, being a Southern girl in a
northern state here, Indiana.
Has someone else had this trouble before
that has bipolar disorder? You get so
excited about having a girl as a friend
that you want her as your girlfriend too?
She gave me hugs everytime she was
dropping me off at my rental house so its
not like she didn't like me or show
affection cause she did.
I hope someone can give me advice on how
to do better next time, its too late now.
She told me to not e-mail or call her, it
sucks now and I'm sure I'll see her again
at College so its going to be pure hell
when it does happen next week sometime,
that's when classes start there.

i haven't felt that way about a girl,
though i have thought about it. it does
seem nice and easy... like friendship
should. but with any budding relationship,
one must walk gently and slowly into the
unknown. try to focus on yourself and what
makes you happy or centered. it's not
having a relationship.... trust me. i'm
almost 33 and just got married. things are
not good. what an understatement.

oh, remember bipolar time is lots faster
than "normal" time. you basically freaked
her out. and 2 weeks does not a
relationship make. walk gently my friend
give it several
months and you WILL be ok.

My husband & I got to know each other
before dating. We dated for 2 years before
marriage & we've been married for 4
yrs. Imagine! However, he doesn't really
have many friends anymore. He knows he's
self-isolating, but isn't ready to get out
there again.
