Q: Low Blood Sugar during early pregnancy

I'm a few months pregnant. I'm not diabetic. And never had any problems with my sugar. The last couple days my sugar has been low. It went down to 29. I check it everyday at work and it is always low. I make a peanut butter sandwich and drink orange juice but later on in the day it goes back down a little bit. It is usually at 50 and stays around there. I eat right. So why is it dropping like it is?

Why are you checking your blood sugars?

Have snacks when it starts dropping. It is advised to eat something small and nutritious every 3-4 hours.

You could possibly be hypoglycemic. Talk with your doctor about this. Eat things that are very high in protein and stay away from sugars and simple carbs. That should help out a lot.

I'm still curious why someone who has no problems with their blood sugar is testing themselves...

Don't pregnant women develop diabetes sometimes? Isn't that why we take the glucose test?

I don't know for sure. I have no clue why we do most of the tests we do, I just do them and as long as everything's fine, I don't care XD
