My Cold... And Gag Reflex
Posted: 11-19-07 09:45am

Ok... so I'm assuming what I have is a cold. what happened is I tried one new cigarette... (I used to smoke a ton but I cut down a lot) so I tried a no. 9 camel. It totally made my throat raw... it hurt to swallow for a few days and then I got a cold.... ok... so now my gag reflex is completely out of control. I puked twice this morning when burshing my teeth, when I cough I dry heave. and I just can't get this under control. My cold is SO much better I can breath out of both my nostrils. but this is just out of control.
Is this common with colds?

I have no idea: I am a non smoker and am having the same problem with my cold. Huge gag reflex; I wish it would go away. I feel something like dry throat and start coughing; anything I've eaten or drunk come up.

I had something similar a few weeks ago. My doctor told me on Friday that I'm suffering from the Flu- but one of the first symptoms I had almost 2 weeks ago was this feeling that my throat was closing up- and ANY pressure near my neck (such as a coat zipped all the way up, or a sweater with a tight collar) would cause me to start gagging. Haven't had much in terms of a cough. The throat still feels tight- but not nearly as bad.
