Q: Anyone Acompter Nerd About Wireless On Laptops?

i got my laptop in the mail the other day, im on it right now but i plugged my ethernet cable into the laptop for now, but i wanna have wireless internet on it, im not sure oif my router is correct its a lynskys but it has somethhing on it about vonage phone thing? Now do u need to have vonage to use it or can u use just the internet part? i ordered the router of best buy and didnt se anything about he vonage when i bought it. If anyone of yall can help me that would be awesome, i duno how long i wil be on tonight i am already super tired and its only 8pm/

it should work with your existing internet hook up... plug the ethernet line into the router.. your lap top should find the signal and you should be able to use it... if you want to set up security measures you can... its a little bit of a process to do so... I have it where the only wireless computer that can access my router is mine...and my dad's desktop is wired directly to the router...

linksys has a default web address to access your router...the default user name is admin and there is not password... so just click enter...to do so keep the ethernet port plugged into your laptop, cuz if you set up the security stuff it will knock you offline....you can set your own username and password for it.... you will have to configure your laptop to the routers settings... there are different encription settings you have to set to make it secure...... also for increased protection you can make the router only except your computers mac address..this keeps other computers from accessing your internet
