Constant gurgling of abdomen - loud bubbling and swishing (Page 1)

I have constant tummy upsets and have had blood test and that awful test up the bottom for bowel cancer but all the tests have come back ok. Its not always just a bad tummy but but the hot sweats and the cramps, when i eat something my stomach is starting to gurgle and it carries on for ages. i have stopped all fibre foods which has helped a litte bit. please help its ruing my life.

I have been having the same problems, only with pain and alot of discomfort, especialy at night. I have to slep practically in a sitting posistion. I am also having a lot of nerve pain and spasms in my entier body. please! can you give me an answer to this.

OMG! So have I... I've been suffering from it now for the past month & a half. Although for the past year now I have been suffering from IBS type symptoms. More recently it's gotten worse... my stomach gurgles more, I have a constant discomfort as if something isn't right inside of my stomach that's almost an achy kinda feeling, bloating, fatigue, & I continue to have muscle spasms throughout my body as well. Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one who suffered with this. I'm 30 years old now and have had this problem since I was a kid. It seems like no one I know ever understands this. Whenever my bowels gurgle, people think it is because I'm hungry. It has gotten worse over the past year. Now sometimes I won't even eat anything or doesn't matter what I eat, it will gurgle and gurgle a lot! I'm back in school and it is so embarrassing. I also share a room with another girl and I live with 4 girls so I can't go anywhere by myself to just let my bowels gurgle and I can't stand to be around people when I have this. I know for me, it means I have inflammation in my small intestine. I believe this is actually caused by consumption of sugar because sugar causes inflammation in the body. Eventually, the gurgles come out as gas and it can go all day and all night and sometimes even for a few days. And I feel so bloated and gross and there is quite a discomfort during this time. I've seen a naturopath as well as my doctor is going to get me in to see a specialist so I can have a colonoscopy. I HATE living with this. It is so embarrassing. I would rather have to go to the bathroom 10 times a day and just get it out than to live with this gurgling and gas. I do go to the bathroom a lot but it doesn't seem to make a difference because it doesn't stop the gurgling.

It sounds like I basically the exact same thing! I seem to get it in waves as well, maybe it won't happen for a few weeks and then happens for quite a long time when it do come about. It is horrible and I don't know how to fix it.

I'm 17 years old and I've been suffering from this a year and a half now. This disease does not only hurt me physically, but emotionally. I'ts so embarrassing that in our classes I will just hear my abdomen's loud gurgling and it's like I gonna die! I hate it but I am helpless even the doctors can't help me! Full, hungry, it's just the same. I can't understand where this endless gas come from. I already did everything I know- diet, exercise, etc but it seems to take no effect. Please help me I really don't know how to deal with this please? :'(

I am 17 and have had this since I was 14! It has ruined my life. I cannot take the SAT or ACT, I have left school and my social life is nothing now. I have been to so many specialists and doctors that I can't even name, as well as probably hundreds of xrays and tests. No diet and exercise works!! I need help!!

To those with constant stomach gurgling throughout the day and night that does not differ with what you eat or drink or how much and when. Get checked for H pylori bacteria infection. A blood test and stool test is the most common diagnosing tools. Some of you may also be experiencing gas like bloating above the belly button area and occassional lower abdomen discomfort and occassional right side pain and irregular bowel movements. Sometimes you may have loose movements and sometime near constipation.
I am undergoing a 3 drug regime for H Pylori bacteria infection. It is a 14 day program. The treatment itself may have side effects that mimic what you are already experiencing. H pylori is common in about 50% of the worlds population but generally causes no symptoms . But when the bacteria goes crazy you will start feeling generally unwell with discomfort in stomach and bowels. I will not likely know if the regimine has worked until a few days after the treatment is over , because as mentioned the drugs themselves cause some gastric type side effects. The treatment is generally effective in 70-90% of patients from what I have learned. I hope this helps you and of course I hope the tratment cures my very same issues. I have the exact symptoms you've described, but with mire constipation and rare loose bowel movements. I've been dealing with this for 5.5 years and I've been tested for H. Pylori with negative results. What else can cause this?

I have all these problems too! And I went through the H Pylori treatment because I did have an infection...still no difference though. I've tried everything from stool softners, miralax, benefiber, probiotics, psyllium husks,special diets, eating small meals, not eating for days at a time, eating plenty for days at a time, mineral oil, everything. I'm still seeing a GI tract doctor whose continually trying to help me with no luck so far =-/ good luck everyone,after reading so many stories like this and experiencing this for so long myself I don't even know if there is a cure...so many people that have the ability to help just don't seem to understand fully and help correctly.

A teaspoon of olive oil really seems to help. First thing in the morning, half an hour before breakfast or coffee, and it's almost completely quiet all day.

I've noticed that a lot of posters mention being on a diet or losing a lot of weight recently. Maybe we don't have enough fat in our diets?

The post I got the olive oil tip from said that digesting fats releases fatty acids that quiet the stomach contractions. I usually eat a very low fat diet now, so maybe I just need a little more?

Anyway, a teaspoon seems to be enough. (One point on weight watchers.)

I have these symptoms and have had them for well over a year constantly, having had them on and off for years before that, I was diagnosed with having IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, the noises are spasms and cramps, sometimes excess acid production also, am currently taking a muscle relaxant called Buscopan but it helps little,I don't like visiting the doctors and have decided its just something I need to cope with, another age related problem,gets much worse when I lie down and going to the toilet does not make any difference, its a constant irritation and embarrassment but not fatal so I manage best I can........Brian

This past week I have been having this lower abdomen gurgle all day. I've been trying to ignore it, it doesnt hurt at all. Just a constannt gurgle no matter what I do or don't eat. I've had chronic stomach gurgling my whole life. I can say with certainty (in my case anyways) that it's related to stress, anxiety,depression, nervousness etc..
When I'm relaxed, happier and at peace it's not so bad. Some people hold stress in other parts..headaches (blood pressure), neck, shoulders, back. For me it's definitely my stomach!

i've been having really bad stomach pains(like feeling as if i just chugged a bottle of acid and was dieing), but only when i'm at school, it starts at about 8:30am and goes on till about 12:00. on weekends i'm perfectly fine, i think it has to do with nervousness but i'm worried it could be something else. i also get gurgling constantly and have had irregular bowel movement for a very long time(like a year. i also get muscle spasms randomly. i am only 16 feels like i'm 80 i'm male btw.

My husband and both boys all have social anxiety disorder and had symptoms much like you - and mostly when at school, like you. You might ask your doctor if that is a possibility. What do you think of school? Do you hate it? Do you struggle to keep a passing GPA? It may just be anxiety, and anti-anxiety medication could make all the difference in the world to you and your school experience. Why don't you "google" anxiety symptoms and see if it discribes you.
Your symptoms could also be celiac disease...which is just an intollerance to gluten...or wheat products. Also "google" celiac disease and see what it has to say.
Hope these ideas help. Of course there are a lot of other things it could be too, but these are both very common and worth checking in to. Good luck.

to everyone whos posted on here, your not alone either, i too suffer with this! its ruining my life, and im getting no where with it! im now 25 and suffered with this for quite a few years but the rumbling came on year an half ago.ive lost a lot of weight with this and sick of ppl labelling me,my doctores wont do anything for me and just say its all ibs or in my head,( i do suffer with constipation, diarhea, bloating, indigestion,pain all over u name it everything) like previously stated ive had these symptoms for many years, but the last year an half they've really got worse and im struggling to eat and have no huunger what so ever!, like someone had posted i too have had every test under the sun and all is coming back fine, and its very frustrating to suffer this and find your ok inside.
my belly is on a constant distention every day and cant get rid of it, im just wanting help and to feel better and have my life back

funnily enough i have had ibs all my life, i have had my probs with alcohol still do.whenever i try to eat it doesnt stay down.i been given lansoprazole but cant take them whilst drinking....bummer.i have thrush in my mouth as my teeth are bad have a sore throat.my gurgling is bad all over pains and cramps in my abdomen for the past week,my appetite is bad and have not eaten properly for about a year,cause of my anxiety and depression i cant be bothered to eat.i have constant panic attacks and often my eyes feel really cloudy.i know i am lacking in some vitamin or mineral but dont know what and the doctors are putting all my symptoms down to hypochondria and not eating but cannot digest food properly and have often had yellowy brown diarrhoea straight after.i need help if anyone has any suggestions

I put myself on a food dairy and wrote down all the food I ate I then put myself on an exclusion diet and cut out all dairy product and wheat products. I was prescribed Merbentyl (dicycloverine hydrochloride)tablets for the embarrassing rumbling in my bowels and it has really helped.Other things helpful for wind are charcoal tablets, peppermint tablets or peppermint or fennel tea
I cut out all high fibre as I found that didn't help either. Try taking a probiotic drink or pill sometimes that will help.Sometimes being anxious can cause diarrohoea, try taking one Imodium tablet. Hope this helps all you fellow sufferers. There are plenty of books on food allergies/food intolerance to read.

My gut rumbles and does all of this stuff to guys, and this is how im managing it at the moment. I have acid reflux. I take medicine for acid relfux day and night.
I do not eat or drink anything dairy. Cokes and other carbonated drinks are BAD. The stuff you need to eat is stuff that is salty. Crackers are good to eath through out the day to keep your stomach settled. Also I take some anxiety pills perscribed by a psychiatrist , sorry if i spelled that wrong, once to twice a day to keep my stomach and my mind calm. And the worst thing is GREASE, as soon as it hits my stomach everything goes to hell avoid it at all costs. This is all i got for right now. Hopefully you guys will get some more stuff in.

I write this as a best friend about the problem of my friends gurgling problem.
My gut reaction (excuse the pun) is that it is to do strongly with nerves and in a lot of other peoples cases stress.
It's purely the bodies way of making you listen and to take notice of what it is trying to say.
Take time out each day and do something entirely for yourself. Don't worry what other people might think just go do it. I like the post above about a teaspoon of olive oil each day. Worth a go in my eyes.
Personally I eat complete rubbish and usually bolt it all down quicker than a greyhound can run a race. Occasionally I get indigestion doing this but that's as far as it normally goes.
Listen to your body, make some time for yourself, breath and the gurgles will become a distant memory that you will probably choose to forget
