Q: Flu Shot??

I was wondering if anyone has gotten the flu shot before?

I know pregnant women are encouraged, so I was hoping that someone here has had one. My work asked my to get one (that they are paying for) and I was wondering if it makes you feel crappy for a few days? (that's what I've heard)

Thanks!!

I've taken them the last few years. I've had no adverse side effects from them. I need to go get mine done this week.

Nope No and Noway

I just had a physical for work and they wanted us to get them...I don't want one.
I had a tetnis and Hep A & B though...

THe thing with the flu shot is that it doesn't guard against all strains of flu. Especially the really bad avian flu. Also it only helps you from not getting it as bad, it doesn't make you not get it at all.

I get one religiously every year, and have never had any adverse affects either. And I've also stayed very healthy all season long!

I got one this year while pregnant. This made the 5th year in a row that I've gotten one. I work in health care so the are required. They don't normally have any side effects. I did get a little sleepy a couple hours after I got mine this year but I could have just been tired, because I've never had any effects from it in the past. I'll always get one!

Chronically Ill
If u are chronially ill and work in an office environment where people do not wash there hands (bathrooms ect), and you find you have had a roughpatch last year, then get the flu shot, never put it near an area that has arthrities, or it ill make the joints ache for days,. most people get a round hot spot at the shot site. I have them for over 20 years now and i swear by them for me. I agress with katrinadoodle, you should do major vaccines before you get pregnant..
All the best ww

nick works in a hospital and who knows what he's bringing home, so i'll be getting mine next month when finn goes for round 2 of his.

last year was the first year i got one and i didn't notice any side effects. it was 5 days after my c-section though and i was seriously doped up, so i don't know if that had anything to do with it.

The flu shot is bogus and pointless. There are so many mutations that are popping up every year and really they have no clue anymore what they are doing. It's best to not have it done .

I have never had a flu shot, and only had the flu once my whole life. Personally, I think they are pointless.

I don't get a flu shot..........I don't believe in them. People in my family get them because they are in law enforcement and it seems like they always get the flu. I on the other hand have been quite lucky......I don't get the flu (I'm touching wood right now...lol) Or should I say I haven't had the flu in a long time.

To me it is like getting a cold shot......there really isn't much point because the virus is always changing.

My work insisted that I get the flu shot they offered too. I was pregnant, so I was scared that I would feel even more like crap than I already did...
I got the shot anyway (hey-it was free) and I regretted it. I felt sooooo crappy for the next few days!!

Flu Shot Protects More Than Just U!
Flu shots should not be given if you are feeling sick, even slightly like you have a flu because your immune system, will not be able to fight off the shot. so make sure you are totally healthy, otherwise you will get the flu! if you are allergic to eggs, u will have a problem. while i respect those that are healthy right to not have a flu shot. those that are chronically ill, elderly, high risk jobs should get the shot. you are not only protecting your self but people that u love that are high risk. if your family members work in certain environments that tend to get the flu, because they don't wash there hands.. remember to disenfect to keep u and your baby healthy, especially if you are pregnant.. don't allow anyone that is sick into your home without a mask! good luck and to all of you that got the flu shot.. thanks, because you are protecting more than your self.. you are protecting the week and elderly.. god bless ww

my doctor strongly urged it. He said it was up to me, and said having the flu sucks, and having the flu while pregnant sucks really bad. I've got the shot the last 3-4 years and I haven't been sick really since then. But my husband has got it every year, and also got the flu every year, so go figure.

I did it mainly though because I work with an office full of people that get sick and then come into work and spread it to everyone here. I know my body can handle the flu shot because I've done it before. Some people it just doesn't matter either way because they still wind up with the flu.

What I normally do though, is get it and then make sure I'm taking vitamins, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, wash my hands constantly (I have hand sanitizer everywhere!). This helps boost your immune system to protect against things like that.

My work was giving them out for free this year too. And this is my first time getting one. My doctor too said to get one since i'll be pregnant during a part of the flu season, and breast feeding. I didn't get any side affects from it. My arm was sore for a few hours, but nothing serious.

Hand sanitizers don't do anything for you. Washing your hands is better.
