I just got through reading responses on another message board about different kinds of make up. Most people agreed that Bare Essentials was the best but not all could afford to use it every day. They said that it was light but covered well. I have a friend IRL that uses it and swears by it. Her make-up never looks caked on but her skin does look smooth.

I personally LOVE Estee Lauder's powder make-up. I am just so happy with it that I can't convince myself to change.

I'll tell you what I did once that REALLY helped. I went to the Estee Lauder counter and got a "free makeover". They showed me how to put on my make up. They were considerate and asked if I wanted it heavy or light. I like it light personally. I ended up buying 100 bucks of makeup and it lasted FOREVER. MUCH longer than the walmart version. I don't think you have to buy anything if you don't want to but I would personally feel obligated to buy something.

Also, I like the powder foundation better than the liquid. It's so much easier to put on, it evens out with a snap, and there's only one step to it. With makeup, you get what you pay for. Cheap makeup will not last very long. I was buying a power foundation that for 10 bucks and it lasted a few weeks. I switched to Estee Lauder and it has lasted me 6 weeks already and it barely looks used. ($32). Also with eyeliner, I noticed that it would rub off and leave black marks in the wrong places with the cheap stuff. Anyway -- Rarely can you run off and buy all if it at once.

I have been using bare essentials and it doesn't seem to be good with dry skin. If I put it on light, it doesn't really cover up. If I put it on heavy, it looks a little powdery and caked on. I think it depends on your skin type. Also, my skin has been red and even more dried out since I have been using it. I heard BE uses Bismuth oxychloride, which
has been shown to be irritating/harmful to some skin types. There are some other companies that offer extremely inexpensive samples and the cost of their makeup isn't as much. I will be experimenting for a while. I am still using BE until I find a different brand.

I use Mary Kay. It's the only foundation that I've found that doesn't make me break out! Never tried BE to much money for me to swing on makeup.

I just went on another website and it seems a lot of those ladies had problems with BE but loved everyday minerals. BE was really drying to their skin. I am not alone. I did see the mineral makeup that avon sells but haven't heard anything about it yet.

I spent all this money on BE and can't use it:(. A sample from everyday minerals seems fairly cheap.

You know...I have been wondering about this bare essentials.

I mean...it sounded just too good to be true. All natural, every skin shade, won't dissolve if you go swimming; I mean, you can even sleep in it.

I am not surprised by these responses...not surprised at all.

Here is something that might just blow you away even further...I don't wear any make up, and, if I must say, I am complimented on my beauty quite consistently.

Instead of bare essentials...how about taking great care of your skin and going bare?

Guh! I know the pain of cheap makeup. I think I'm going to ask for a makeover and GOOD make up this Christmas. I do want to look nice; I put on liquid foundation every day pretty much... and it's gone in an hour it seems like Razz Same with my lipstick. Eyeliner? Don't get me started! I can't wear anything under my eyes because where I live, the cold wind makes my eyes water and tear down my face, so I rarely put makeup under my eyes. I use it mostly on my chin to cover acne.

I spent forever trying to find a nice cheap foundation that I liked. Eventually I realized that I'm spending more money trying the cheap stuff than I would if I just got something a few dollars extra. And going bare just isn't an option for me. Chlorine dries my skin out and gives me acne.

I HAVE to put stuff under my eyes, otherwise I look like I haven't slept in days, which is horrible because I'm also disgustingly pale so I look like a ghost Very

Personally, I'm a bit leery about make overs. Some of these can make you look worse.
Admit it, how many of you have seen those make over shows on television and thought to yourself, 'Gee, she looked better before?'.

I know I have.

I actually got the start of a really good makeover ^^ I've never seen on on TV where they looked better beforehand O.o.

The lady couldn't find a base that looked good on me. I have extremely fair and translucent skin with freckles so everything looks like... makeup on me! And that's not the point with a base; it's supposed to be unnoticable. So we just bought some cleansers and I'm going to work on eliminating my acne for when I go back in Dec. It was at Merle Norman's, a place my mom used to go to all the time when she was younger. They have excellent makeup.

I've only worn make up once in my life, and that was at senior prom and applied by a friend. I don't know the first thing about it. I don't even know how to put on eyeliner or mascara. I really kind of wish I did though.

I think this crap sucks! I paid 300 freaking dollors for a bunch of nothing! I sent all that crap back very quick! I'd rather use my cheap coer girl. Cover girl even looks better than that bare whatever! I wouldn't waste your money if I were you!

Ha ha1 I agree completely. I have been using it for a few months now and my face is red now - never was before. I miss my cheap covergirl all in one stuff. Now that covered and it was cheap. My skin seemed a little better back then.

Ha ha! NEVER!! You are just one of those lucky folk. My mother has olive skin and was called "unadorned beauty" in high school. She didn't need makeup. Unfortunately I was "blessed" with my father's skin. Thank goodness for makeup.
