Crying or Very sad I am male with an unusual big head. I have great big, red colored,
pouting lips. Is there an ointment or cream that can lighten it or blend
it to the color of my face ? My face is fair to light brown. I’ve had
a hell of a time since my teenage years (i am in early 50's) as I have
been, and am continually called, a freak, funny, homo, pansy and all
sorts of stupid remarks. Men are afraid to shake hands or even talk to
me, and women rush to collect their children for they fear I will kidnap
them. It feels funny as I am married and have two grown children of my
own !
The only way to reduce the redness is to be in the sun and tanned for a
few hours when it turns dark maroon or brown. This doesn’t last more
than a few hours. My brother also has a similar problem but his head is
smaller and so the redness doesn’t hit the onlooker so much. Plus, he
is an athlete and regularly hikes and bikes and is very tanned so the
redness on his lips turns black. It returns to red color in the deep
winter.
I did have surgery done to my lips 15 years ago. The cosmetic surgeon
charges $2000 and removed the inside of the lips. He said he had not
seen such a huge lip ever. He said the idea is to thin the lips so that
they curl inside my mouth. But, after the first surgery I never went
back because I was afraid of being dis-figured. Maybe, I should have
continued the surgery as my insurance was paying. 5 years ago I visited
a dermatologist who said that the lips were a unique type of skin and
cannot be replaced by any other part of the body. In any case, he
smiled and said what was wrong with your lips, as ‘you look normal’. I also
see that some people with red lips try to grow a mustache to hide their
red lips but I don't think it works that well !

Anyway, I am wondering if this is right forum to get some advice or is
there another place I should go to for this kind of problem. Crying or Very sad Sad
