Hi Doc,

I am age 39 , single male. Smoke regularly and used to drink regularly. Last May I had a symptom resembling TIA . Earlier to that my annual master health check-up revealed that I had high blood and urine glucose and high in Cholestral . I was under medication for diabetes (Gluformin) and for Cholestral. The TIA occurred a day after a binge drinking session. I sincerely believe that it was the trigger to that TIA. Had a medical check-up and was under medication for diabetes (Gluformin) and for tri-glycerides . But no permanent damage. Though it induced Vertigo for about 2 weeks. Had medication for that for a month .

Went into strict diet then. Last Wednesday again I had a strong symptom of TIA. It lasted for a barely a minute. But the blood pressure on my head was severe. Got admitted into ICCU . All check-ups done. Blood sugar was 102 in the evening around 6:30 PM. Never had BP till date. Had ECG and X-Ray (chest PA for what ?), MRI and MRA . All normal. Doctor said that MRI and MRA can detect even the minutest of brain damage or hemoragge or clot.

Doctor advised me to stop diabetes medicine and after a week to take fasting and PP glucose test and Lipid profile. DSA will be after that .

What could it be ?

Got admission slip to Intensive Cardiac Care Unit . Went home alone . Picked-up my clothes and shaving kit etc . Came back to the hospital. Walked up the stairs and went to the ICCU . When I produced the admission slip, the first question that was asked was , where is the patient ?! .

I have stopped drinking hard liquor since May . After my first TIA. Though I do take beer. Since May I am also taking 75mg low-dose, slow release Aspirin. As on date Doctors are of the opinion that the root cause has not been identified. Also the Neuro Surgeon told me that DSA itself has 1% possibility of inducing a stroke.

During both times I was under severe stress . Work . But otherwise diet was strict. Though no exercise.

Very scared and very confused what this is all about. After first TIA I was told that I should be under observation for 52 weeks. But the next one has happened in Nov itself.

I have got no permanent damage both the times. But nowadays I get some mild head-ache regularly. I don't wear glasses.

I will surely go in for Fasting and PP Glucose and Lipid profile next Saturday.

But should I go for DSA ?

Please help !
