Skin Problems - seb derm and rosacea due to STD? Posted: 11-11-07 22:51pm
this may end up being a lot to read but
please help...im extremely worried....
im a 24 year old male. ive always had very
fair and sensitive skin. when i was
younger i had bad eczema on my feet, but
that cleared up. other than i've never had
any real skin problems until recently. let
me say that in the past 6 months or so,
i've been partaking in some careless
activites with some questionable females.
it was always oral sex (always recieving,
never giving), but i never wore a condom.
the females i did these activities with
were very questionable. i know it was
stupid, so lets please not get into that.
in the past few months i've been
developing lots of skin problems.
here are some of the symptoms....keep in
mind that i've never had a problem with
any of these before recently.
-very oily skin, especially on my forehead
-acne- mostly on my face but am now
getting pimples on my bak sohulder and
even pimples on my arms and hands
-seborrheic dermatitis (very itchy on my
face and scalp)
- small painful bumps under my eyebrows
and on my scalp
-red bumps and spots on my chest
-keratosis pilaris
- generally itchy body. im constantly
feeling faint itchiness all over my body.
-just today i noticed small red patches
near my hand. they are little red spots
that dont really look like pimples. there
are 4 of them near my wrist.
- a little hair loss in my eyebrows
i went and saw a dermatologist and she
said it was seb derm and a little rosacea
(ive been blushing everytime im in the
sun). she gave me a couple of
prescriptions that im going to start
tomorrow.
what worries me is the fact that all this
is happening at once. my face is an
aboslute mess. it's red with pimples
andflaky skin everywhere. my pores are
huge and the skin is very oily. i've been
avoiding people because of how terrible it
looks. why would this all happen at once?
thats why im worried about hiv. even
though i only had oral sex and not
vaginal, it wouldn't surprise if one of
these girls was infected. i am going to
get tested but wont get a chance for
another few days.
do these sounds like common symptoms of
hiv? should i be worried? please give me
some opinions. thanks

Hi there, bri671
I´m a dermatologist myself and I suggest
you get tested for HIV and syphilis ASAP.
The symptoms and lesions you describe
could correspond to any of these STDs.
Good luck
