Q: Christmas Spending?

I know it's going to be super different for people with more than one kid, and for people who have to buy for big families, but I'm curious how much everyone is planning to spend on their little ones for Christmas?

We settled on spending $300 on Kaylee. But we're not only going to get toys & fun stuff. We're going to get her a few more sweaters, a new pair of shoes, socks, some bigger onesies & get stocked up on diapers & wipes for a couple months.

Well with me being due on christmas lol we have decided to just buy for our daughter. Between buying baby stuff, and presents for her we are pretty broke. And my family, and his understands that we can't afford much this year. I think next year we are going to put back some money from income tax for christmas. I have 500 saved up for presents this year. But even that doesn't go far anymore.

i didn't really plan a budget. i've just been buying stuff on sale here and there and setting stuff aside at work (which i can take home and pay for later at my convenience).

i just wanted him to have a couple larger things and a few smaller things and a stocking.

Not very much Sad we'll be buying her "2nd Christmas" ornament (about $10 at Hallmark), a couple of new games for her V-Smile ($15 a pop) and just today I bought her a holiday dress. We're stretched unbelievably thin this year, so I'm going to get her holiday portrait taken for Christmas cards. I'm also going to Sam's and having a bazillion copies of her cutest pictures taken, and I'm going to hand out multi-picture frames to family members.

So it'll probably be about $50 on Alyvia and it'll probably work out to be $10 a person. We have our cards bought already (thank the good lord for last year's After-Christmas sale!), so I'll just need the portraits, the frames, and the copies.

I thought I would spend about 150 on Rowan, and about the same on Nathan.

For all my family/close friends I thought I would buy baskets and bake a bunch of different kinds of cookies and muffins and fill every basket up with those goodies, and maybe like a nice sented candle in each, then wrap it with some pretty transparent christmas wrap, and tie some ribbons on it. I thought this way I could keep from spending money on everyone, since I don't have much, and at least this way buy Rowan some decent things.

This is my idea for cheap Christmas cards. I'm getting some green paint and dipping Rowan's hand in it, and making upside down prints on the cards (With the fingers pointing down). I'm going to then paint a star at the top (where the hand and wrist meet), and some ornaments and decorations on the green and make it look like a christmas tree! And that will be the cards people get with their baskets. And then the people who aren't in my warm circle, but still important, will just get cards like that.

That's such a sweet idea, Tanya! Very Happy

Last year we burned cd's of Alyvia's pictures from birth to just a few days before the cd's were burned (pictures of me pregnant, Alyvia, and a few no-sound videos). For cd sleeves, I took construction paper, wrote out Alyvia's name in metallic ink, put a strip of super-fancy ribbon on the left border, and a metallic super-fancy sticker near the bottom. The stickers were the kind that just basically have most of the sticker punched out, and only have the trace of the pattern. They were gorgeous. I used silver stickers on the red paper and gold on the green paper. The cd's were a huge hit last year, so this year we're doing the picture frames.
