Q: Tight Foreskin

I tried to find a search button for the forum for other topics like this but can't see it anywhere so here it is.

I can't pull my foreskin back fully and there seems to be some sort of tissue connected (I don't know how to explain it really, looks like a muscle tendon) from the penis itself to the foreskin making it difficult to pull back.

Its not too much of a physical problem to be honest its just psychologial and everything in my life is fine apart from this, which is making me kind of lack confidence. It can be a little bit painful whilst having an erection so it'd probably be best to get it checked. There also seems to be folding of the skin around the head where the foreskin is tight making the skin at the tip of the penis look rather rippled.

How would I go about seeing a doctor about it (would I need to go to a specialist for example and how would I go about contacting one), do you know of anything like it? and would it cost money to sort out Very Happy ?

Hey mate,

Sounds like you have a tight frenulum. I had the same problem. I have had a circumcision to sort it out as mine lead to rippind and bleeding during intercourse . There are supposidly other ways to fix it but they are not 100% and take the same time as a circumcision so I opted for the circ to get rid of the problem asap.

the bit of tissue you are talking about is called your frenulum. it is meant to be there! all guys have one. but in some cases a guy will find his frenulum is quite tight. this is a common problem, and circumcision is only a very last resort if your problem is severe and cannot be resolved by frenuloplasty. it might be a problem with tight foreskin but tight frenulum though. this is called phimosis. without an examination i cant say which it is though. i'm not an expert, so you are going to need to talk to a doctor about it.

oh, and if you go to the main ehealthforum homepage you will find a search bar there with a yellow button next to it saying 'search'. you can find old posts relating to similar things this way.

Oh right thanks for the quick reply.

Well how can I get hold of an expert to look at it and that?

If circumcision is a last resort, what other options are there? And how far back does a circumcision?

well if it's just phimosis (tight foreskin) then it can usually be rectified by stretching exercises, there is some cream you can get from the doctor that helps. but if it is an issue with a tight frenulum then it's probably gonna be more complicated. i'm not sure what frenuloplasty entails. you'll have to ask a doctor. you shouldnt need to find a 'specialist' as such. your normal family doctor will be able to help you or refer you on to someone who can.

i'm assuming you are from america (cos most people here are!) and i know how amercans love to chop boys foreskins off at any given opportunity lol, so just make sure the doctor has tried everything else before you resort to that! unless of course you actually want a circumcision. well let us know how it goes anyway...

Nah I'm from England actually.

Well I'm not fussed about circumcision really so might get it done. What percentage of people are circumcized then? (Like around the western world).

ah right, fair enough!

i dont know about percentages, but in the uk it's pretty unusual to be circumcised. but if you gotta have it done then you gotta have it done! most people do not need a circumcision for tight foreskin issues though. now make that appointment to see your doc Wink
