On Thursday my husband had an angioplasty done. The doctor was looking for cobwebs in his veins. He has been suffering from hypertension for almost a year. He is 25. The vascular surgeon said he found no cobwebs. He did however find polyps in the artery. The doctor called his primary care physician and he saw her on Friday. She is sending him to a rheumatologist. She is not convinced this is a case of PAN as PAN is a rare disease. Can someone explain to me why he is being sent to a rheumatologist? Is having polyps in the artery life threatening or is it something that is treatable? There seems to be an urgency as his pcp said he would see this other doctor within the next month and she is very hard to get into. He went to the top of the waiting list.
