Q: Why am I cramping and moody? (negative h.p.t. test w/ late perio

Please help why do you think I am cramping and do you think I should get a second opinion. I have been quite moody and think it is because my period is so late. The pain is quite bad at times and it is affecting my life at work and marriage.

"Current medical status: I have been previously diagnosed of having endometrosis. I have always been regular with my periods until now. I have had severe cramping on and off for 3 weeks. I have done h.p.t test and one at the doctors which are all negative - I had my tubes tied 3 years ago - clamped."

Abdominal cramps can originate not only from the inner genitalia but also from the urinary or digestive tract. A late menstrual period without pregnancy could indicate a disturbance in the hormonal axis of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. A very common reason for such a disturbance is the persistence of a hormonally active ovarian cyst. Ovarian cysts can also cause abdominal pain... but only in some rare cases. You can request an abdominal ultrasound to identify the cause and will have to consult a gynecologist to follow up.
