Q: Recurrent Cough Every Year!

For 20 years now, every year or two I will catch a cold like most people. But unlike most, when the cold symptoms are gone, I have a dry cough that persists for 4-6 weeks.

--it's a tickle in the back of my throat, somewhere near adam's apple area
--it is worst when I need to talk to people
--it's not worse when i'm going to bed or lying down
--non-productive (nothing usually comes up, though once in a while a little phlegm)

i've seen about 5 doctors over the years and had 5 diff theories, from bronchitis to pertussis to to allergies to asthma to "just a bad cold". Btw, antibiotics dont seem to kill it. I did have asthma as a child, but now i'm a runner and havent experienced it in years. I smoked in my teens, not since.

Please any thoughts are welcome!

Thanks,

tim
