I have what I believe is a fecal impaction. I won't have any health coverage until december. Until then, how do I keep it from getting worse? And have pain relief?
thanks.

Until you're able to have the dry stool removed, it's suggested that you take action to reduce constipation and further fecal impaction. Adding fibre to your diet and regular exercise can help promote regular bowel movements. But beware: if the fecal impaction is not removed, the colon may become too large or the bowel can become completely blocked which can require a trip to the emergency in extreme cases for an ER surgery.

A simple and harmless remedy..
Sorry to hear about your situation. The good news, j6860, is that this is relatively simple and quick to fix. But you also have to be willing to change your diet around a bit and also start really increasing water consumption, as dehydration is actually a very big cause of constipation and fecal impaction.

To drastically increase fiber might not be the best idea since your intestines are already comprimised or lethargic and are stagnant.

try increasing consumption quite a bit, of fruits/greens/veggies... try to stay away from a lot of meats, grains, dairy. This will help immensely. This also might be of help to you, a simple supplement that seems pretty effective. This also might be of help to you, a simple supplement that seems pretty effective I've used it before with great success, called OxyPowder. Also try Colon Cleansing.

Best wishes.
