Q: Seroxat - Weight Gain?

I have just been prescribed seroxat for social anxiety disorder but I am weary as to whether or not to take it as I hear it can cause weight gain and I am already overweight. I have tried many other antidepressants and they didn't work so I am keen to try this drug as I hear it is the best antidepressant for SA.

If you could give me your thoughts on this that would be appreciated.

They will all effect people in different ways, and the only way you will know if you will gain weight from it is to try. Sorry! Just try it and keep in close communication with your prescribing doctor in case you start to notice unwanted side effects.

I have taken Seroxat several times and did not put on any weight with it at all. Sometimes, antidepressants can make you feel more hungry and so you eat more and that is why you put on weight, the tablets themselves don't increase your weight.

Good luck with them - I found they helped me tremendously. They helped my social phobia and I was able to live a normal life again. You should go on them slowly though as you can get some side effects like feeling a bit spaced out.
