Q: Difficulty Reaching Orgasm With Partner

Hey Everyone. This is my first post and am looking for some insight here. I'm a 37 year old male and did not have any sexual partners until I was about 35. Prior to that, I masturbated daily on average to porn, magazines, or my imagination.

When alone, I have no problem masturbating to orgasm. However, when I'm with a partner, It proves to be extremely difficult.

I am always quite erect as we begin. The problem is that as time goes by, and the more precum that seems to be released, I am unable to eventually reach orgasm. This makes me feel bad because I'm afraid my partner thinks I'm not attracted. I still remain fairly erect while making out, oral, etc. But when it's time to finish the job, it just doesn't seem to happen. Sometimes if my partner leaves the room for a bit, I can quickly masturbate and ejaculate normally. Again, I feel horrible about this and I'm sure my partner thinks it's their fault.

It's almost as if I need to fully concentrate on getting to orgasm and this isn't possible with someone touching and trying to pleasure me. I want to be able to reach an orgasm with my partner so bad, but it's almost like I'm putting so much pressure on myself to do it, that it won't happen.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Is this at all common? And just to reiterate, I am very attracted to my partner. There is no doubt about that at all.

Can you perhaps practice by masturbating with her in the room first? Ignore her if you must; but become accoustomed to her presence in relation to orgasm.

Step two would be to masturbate to orgasm with her next to you.
You could insert step 2.5 involving her touching you while you masturbate to orgasm.

Step three would be to masturbate almost to orgasm, and try to let her finish you off; or, let her go as far as possible and then take over for her.

Basically, I think you have a mental block from being abstinent for so long. Your body and mind think that orgasm is a purely private thing that can't happen with someone else around. You need to break that.
