Q: Ovulation Pains?

So I am into the first 5 days of my bc pack and i am getting these almost cramping pains in my ovaries "area". I am sure they are not gas pains! They almost feel like cramping, but at the same time it's kind of a sharp pain. Is this cramping a sign of ovulation? If so, that wouldn't be good right, because that's what the bc should discontinue (ovulation)?
Please let me know, thanks!

You cannot be ovulating if you are on birth control. They are cramps due to the changing hormones in your body due to the birth control.

It IS possible to ovulate while on birth control. If you ovulate, it means the dosage is not high enough, or you have not been taking it correctly.

Well yes, but we're assuming correct usage and dosage since in most (90%) of cases, normal dosage works just fine.

Ya I've been taking it correctly! So I'm probably being paranoid again! Thanks though!

ALL DOSES we have right now DO prevent ovulation.

SOME women can have breakthrough ovulation, but this is considered a RARITY and not the 'norm'.

It's scary how this can happen especially when doctors reassure us that we're 99% protected with the pill. It is not such a rarity as people may think. I think you should just be extra careful if you think you're ovulating and see your doctor about getting a higher dose pill. I have been experiencing something similar and I'm on Yasmin which is a low dose pill. I've been on it since September and ever since I've been bleeding about 5 to 7 days before my period is due (on the sugar pills) and I've been bleeding while on the "medication pills" hence the bleeding stops a day or 2 into the sugar pills. This has never happened on other birth control before. I think I've been ovulating every month on Yasmin and therefore I believe I may be pregnant right now.

This is a quote from the website above: Again, if you're reading about CHEMICAL ABORTIONS for the first time, this may surprise, or even shock you. Most Americans are not aware that the Pill and other chemical "contraceptives" cause millions of "non-surgical" abortions each year in the early weeks of pregnancy. If you are using the Pill, Depo-Provera or Norplant, you need to know the truth about how these products work.

Most women take these "contraceptives" because they don't want to have a baby. But how many women know they can have BREAKTHROUGH OVULATIONS and become pregnant while using these "contraceptives?" Very few! And how many of these women know that if they become pregnant after a BREAKTHROUGH OVULATION, these "contraceptives" will almost always kill any son or daughter they've conceived?

SCARY!!!

Good luck!
