Stomach Pain - Sickness - Worried It's Cancer
Posted: 11-08-07 16:30pm

I am 27 years old and over the last 4 weeks I've had bad stomach pains, sickness, fever, headaches and it takes ages to go to the toilet. My doctor told me I had a case of Gastroenteritis, he give me pills. They seemed to have worked but now I feel really bad again. I have told family and friends, even called NHS direct tonite and they told me it's the same thing as before! Now theres no history of cancer in my family but I am worried. Could it be cancer? I am seein my doc again tomorrow but I am worried

What was the first symptom you got?
Did you have normal bowel patterns before this?
Do you have abdominal pains together with stomach pains?
Where are the pains located exactly?
What is the intensity of these pains?

I pain can be really painful but then theres nothing. The pains are near my bellybutton. I can go to the toilet but its runny. I've seen my doc, the second time, and he thinks its Gallstones. I am having a blood test next Friday and soon a scan to rule anything out.

Do you have your symptoms appearing suddenly like an attack?
Does the pain you feel in your upper abdomen increases rapidly and lasts from 30 minutes to several hours?
Do you feel pain in the back between the shoulder blades or under the right shoulder at the same time?
Do you have these attacks more often at night or after your meal?
Do you usually eat fatty meals?
Do you have abdominal bloating and gases?
Are you experiencing belching?
Do you have high cholesterol blood levels?

The pain comes after eating. I do eat fatty foods but I am cutting down. The pain hasnt happened that much over the weekend and when it does, the painkillers really do help.

Do you have high cholesterol blood levels? Are you taking cholesterol-lowering drugs?
Do you have diabetes?

How are you feeling?
Do you still have severe stomach pains and fever?
Did you make the examinations?
Have you received your blood test and abdominal scan results?

Thinking of you!

I am feeling a bit better. The pains arent that painful and I feel more awake now. The blood test was today and I will have to call back on Tuesday for the results. I have no idea when the scan will be, I am still waiting for a call or letter off them

Ok I am going mad! My bum feels sore and there was blood on the tissue, but I am on my peroid. This happened once before and someone told me it was piles. Could this mean cancer? I am getting more and more scared now.

Increased straining during bowel movements, (e.g. constipation, diarrhea) may lead to hemorrhoids. Recently you had runny stools so that could be a cause of piles or hemorrhoids.

Do you suffer from constipation?
Do you usually sit on a toilet for prolonged periods of time?
Do you have rectal pain?
Do you feel itchiness in anal area?

That's a good news.
Was a lipid status (cholesterol, triglycerides) part of your lab exams?
It sounds to me that you may have external hemorrhoids. Home treatment is recommended for most of them and includes gradually increasing fiber and water in your diet, using creams to help stop itching, pain and provides antibacterial effect in that area.
You can often prevent hemorrhoids or keep them from becoming worse by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Eat a fiber-rich diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.

I am eating better foods, drinking more water and taking care of myself. I just got a date for my scan, Jan 7th 2008! I know its a long wait but really it should clear up everything

I think they checked blood levels, liver and other stuff which I dont know about. From what I've been told, it's all normal. So thats good news. I have been told it might be anything going on inside but I shouldnt over panic. I know whatever happens will be sorted out Smile

Do you still have abdominal pains?
Have you been described some painkillers?

I'm happy that you're taking care for yourself and that your condition is stabilizing.

Best wishes!

I do still have the pains, but they come and go now. I was given enough painkillers to last me a while, I only take them when I cant stand the pain. I am eating well, drinking water and going for long walks and looking after myself.

Have you informed your doctor about this?
Are you experiencing small drops or streaks of blood or more severe bleeding?

The large intestine and rectum are frequent sites of bleeding.

I did tell him. He told me to wait and see what the tests show up. I am worried to death here. I've got a blood test on Friday, maybe that will show something up, scan on the 7th and a camera sometime soon. I was on my peroid and the bleeding has stopped now. I am worried its cancer. Everyone tells me it wont be but I am worried.
