I learned what my kegals were back when I was 12 and just learning to masturbate lol. I would do it in the bathtub so during orgasm my vagina would open up and suck in bath water, so obviously I figured out really quickly how to do it myself!

haha and you can do them anywhere you want!
A speaker I went to recently talked about them for I swear had to have been close to an hour. He even suggested sets and reps likes we should be in a weight room to practice kegals. Very Happy

yeah its the same muscles you use to control the flow of pee. dont actually do kegels while peeing though cos its not good to cut off the flow of urine in that way.

Um, I'd like to add something really important.

Kegals don't strengthen the cervix!!!

Really? I was told that was the best way to learn how to do them - while you're peeing. Is it harmful?

It’s a good way to learn where the muscles are, but you shouldn't continually do kegals while urinating-- which I think is what fiona meant.

yeah eiri made a good point about the cirvical opening thing lol. it doesnt strengthen the cervix. i dont think this is possible.

pc exercises tone the muscles around the vagina and doing them can help prevent incontinence in later life.

because it is difficult to explain where the pc muscles are, people use the example "imagine you are trying to cut off the flow of urine while you are in the middle of peeing". these muscles you use are the pc muscles.

however you should not do the exercises while you are actually peeing. i'm not sure exactly why, but i have been told by a professional not to do it. you can do them anytime and anywhere, so i guess there's no reason to do them while peeing anyway.

If you do them while you're peeing then you may not finish peeing all the way and then it could cause a UTI.

sillysallie, I'm sure you are doing them right. It just feels awkward when you first start doing it. Very Happy

I'm going to use a combination of suggestions to get you going:
First, squeeze your vagina opening together, like you are holding in your pee.
Second, count to five, one...one thousand, two...one thousand...until you get to five. Then release.
Continue to do this at least five time in each set.

The good thing about this is you can do it any where and any time, completely unnoticed.

The more you exercise it; the more strength and stimulation occurs.

Good luck!

Is it better to hold them for a while then? Does doing quick ones work as well?

The way I was taught was that you can start with 5 set of 5 squeeze and release sets.

Each squeeze should be five seconds, like one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand, etc.

As you muscle gets more toned, you can at more repetitions to each set. Not to mention, you can do it as many times as you want to in a given day.

Who will ever tell. That's my favorite part.
