I have kept a record of my PMS timing and
symptoms for years. I experience physical
symptoms of PMS (bloating, breast
tenderness, carb cravings, etc.), but no
emotional symptoms, during the Luteal
phase of my cycle when progesterone levels
are highest. I understand this is normal.
What confuses me is that I do experience
emotional symptoms such as moodiness and
hyper-sensitivity during days 7-15
(Follicular or proliferative phase) of my
cycle when estrogen levels are higher and
I should feel my best. This normally
only lasts for 2-3 days. Why is this?
(I am counting the first day of menstrual
bleeding as the first day of my cycle. My
cycle usually lasts 23-25 days.) Thank
you for your time.

i was told you should count from the last
day of ur period as the first day of your
cycle all the way until the last day of
your next period and so on and so forth.

Thank you for your response. Actually,
with all due respect, the first day of
your period IS considered the first day of
your cycle. It is called the follicular
(or proliferative) phase. If you are
timing your cycle the way you were
informed, you could make a mistake if you
are trying to prevent/promote conception.
Just FYI. (I am a medical
professional.)

yeah, it's the first day of your period. I
don't know why that might be though, I
mean, some women don't even feel pms at
all. Everyone's different- it's the same
reason some women do really well on
hormonal birth control but some don't. But
it's good that you know how your own body
works so well.
