Left Arm Pain caused by nerve damage ? DVT ?

hiya, my boyfriend has nerve damage in his arm, it started when he broke his arm when he was younger and never attented hospital to get it sorted and now he has nerve damage, he has bad pains, he tells me it feels like tooth ache in his arm, it goes dead some times, you are best going to see the hospital for advice as i could be giving you false information and worrying you, have you broken your arm or damaged it do you know? my boyfriend feels better when it's rested in a sling, try it a see how you feel. good luck if you go for a check up. let me know. emz

I'm starting to feel left arm pain myself. It happened last night and was the worst it has ever felt. Before, it would just be a kind of a nerve pinch like feeling in my fingers but now it's made it's way up above my elbow and last night spread to my upper shoulder. Can anyone help? I see this thread has gone unanswered for nearly a year.

I have pain in my arm like this and found out it was a herniated disc in my neck.

iv placed incorrectly and kept in arm for three days. Patient on pain meds and was told pain due to broken arm. x-rays negative. Taken to another hospital who discovered that the iv had infiltrated the arm.
It has been 4 months and he still has pain in infiltrated area and was given lynocane patches to help the pain.
Anyone have any ideas?

I have been experiencing pain in my left elbo.
It seems to come and go and is not always present. Taking two ibuprofen usually eliminates the pain. Within a day or two the pain reoccurs. Any Ideas?

i have a constant muscular arm pain that are spread up to my neck area for more than 2 months. Took pain killers but no positive results

I too have suffered these symptoms for over a fortnight, It occurs mainly sitting at my desk, it sometimes goes when laying down but usually is kinda constant. I can only think of it starting after a 2 day bike ride, but not directly after more like 2 days after completion. I've tried exercising it with light weights and stretches but nothing seems to make it go away, leading me to believe it's some sort of nerve damage. Any ideas on treatment here?

Since I left my last comment, I've been to the doctor 3 different times. It turns out I have mild carpal tunnel AND an "inflamed ribcage/chest". The doctor said the inflammation might have came from working out and my job, because I work at UPS and lift many heavy boxes. She gave me a splint for my wrist, told me to take a few Advils a day after eating for 2 weeks, I've adjusted my keyboard position to one that doesn't compromise my wrist, and I've taken it easy with lifting and I've been completely fine since. Just a few little minor changes in my life made such a huge difference. Unfortunately the doctor also said the inflammation will never go away, and it could come back any time if I overwork myself.

The pain i'm experiencing is in my left arm, outter muscle area. I'm 36 yrs old. I find it very difficult to find a comfortable position to put my arm to get sleep. I don't think it's a stroke or anything, but it's a new kinda pain and I can't find relief for it. pain killers doesn't help, it only puts me to sleep, then i wake up because my arm is either alseep ,numb or I can't even pick it up. Any suggestions ?

I have had a pain in my left arm ever since having my blood pressure checked in August 2009. I moved house the week after but had to attend a new Doctors surgery exactly a week later and have complain to the doctor each time I go! X-rays have shown nothing but then they would not show veins! I am now experiencing pins and needles in left hand and fingers. I had both Carpal tunnels done severayears ago. I am certain this is due to the blood pressure cuff, I told the nurse at the time she had hurt me and she did apologise.
Nothing alleviates the pain.
Its making my life a misery! Someone help me!

I've been having the same problems with pain in my left arm for about two years now. What happened to me was, when I was at work. I had to lift a bottle jack out of the back of a pickup truck. I had to lean in over the tailgate to get it, about five feet or so. The jack was over 50 pounds. Instead of sliding it out to the edge of the tailgate. I tried to pick it up where it sat.. At that point, when I put all my force on it to lift it. I felt this (almost) like an electrical shock go through my arm. All the way up to my shoulder. about 20 min after that I felt this weird numb felling (right) dead center in the palm of my hand. It didn't hurt, it was just this weird fuzzy numb feeling about the size of a silver dollar in the center of my palm. That lasted for about (maybe) two hours or so. When I woke up the next morning my whole arm hurt from my shoulder down to my wrist. The pain wasn't severe. It was just this low dull pain, that was enough to (just) be aggravating. At night I couldn't sleep on it. This has been going on know for about two years. I will say that as time has gone by it has gotten a lot better, but it still comes and goes. I'm pretty sure I pulled a nerve. The Doc said there is a nerv cluster in both shoulders, just under the coller bone, that extends all the way down to your finger tips. He said these nerve clusters are like cell phone towers. They receive all the information from your hands , and send it to the brain. And then went on to say, that if you pull or pinch a nerve in your hand or wrist. the pain can resignate from where you pulled or pinched the nerve, all the way up to (these) nerve clusters. He said the best person to talk to would be a Nerosurgen. I have an appointment nest week. I'll keep you guys posted.

The doctor just gave me shots of cortizone which took away the pain. Then recently I stopped Crestor. All my muscle aches went away (I had hurt all over!) Well, now I have severe left arm pain. The doctor gave me flexeril, and gabapentin, but I am not taking it as it makes me fall asleep. I am to start therapy, but pretty sure a pinced nerve in my neck. Today chiropractor wants to see my xrays. My insurance says therapy, then MRI, to save money no doubt. Dr said there were some bone spurs in there. I hope the therapy doesn't cause one of them to poke a disk. That happened to my husband and he had to have emergency surgery as he was paralized and in severe pain. His back surgery went perfectly and he was so happy. Well, if I need those spurs removed, shaved or whatever, I will do this to stop the pain. I cannot take anything except Excedrin for the pain. Ice seems to help. I can't sleep.

I have constant pain in my left arm around the elbow with swelling about size of golfball,I have had this problem now for 6 months. the pain works down to my hand and works to top of arm. i have had a ct scan done around the swelling which showed a small white shadow, then had mri scan and the result showed nothing. No matter what medication i take the pain never goes. I have a 4 month old granddaughter and i can not fed her due to pain. It does feel like constant tooth ache if not worse and its constant 24/7.

I've have had left arm pain (my dominant arm) since I've worked as a medical transcriptionist for 7 years. The pain will radidate starting from my wrist all the way up to the shoulder. It will throb and sometimes feel like it was burning up. I take Advil and that usually helps, but don't want to become too dependent on it. My physical therapist recommended me to do daily stretches and strengthening exercises, no matter what activity I do in using my arm/hand. My phsyical therapist also told me that this kind of 'work repetitive injury pain' will never resolve itself completely, it will just have to be managed throu stretches/strengthening exercises and avoiding overuse of the arm/hand.

Get your GP to arrange for a specialist and get CT or MRI scans done. I have found out just by dragging linen bags around a resort, that the nerves got inflamed the muscles tensed up to support the nerves and the nerves attached themselves to the muscules. Very painful in the wrist, forearm and hands, also the elbow feels like it is burning now and then. Blood tests to rule out artheritis. Also use ice packs for the pain, the reduce the inflamination. Even if you have never played Tennis, you can still get Tennis elbow worth looking into.

I started in 2010 having wrist pain, saw an orthopedic Dr. and he ask me had I had an MRI. Before I had the MRI I starting in Jan. having numbness in both index and middle fingers on both hands and pain in my arm. My quest was then to have an MRI. I did in MAY 2011. THERE IS HOPE!! I was diagnosed with 2 degenerative disk in my upper neck which has the nerves that lead down to these fingers and my nerve was being squeezed in the middle which made this numbness occur in both hands. My arm would hurt so bad and was so tensed it would feel like it was being pulled into my body. My fingers would remain numb for several minutes upon getting up. I found a Dr. that does Decompression and Chiropractic Care and I have been receiving this for 5 1/2 months twice weekly. I also learned about ART- Active Release Therapy which is a release to the muscle to relieve the scar tissue and knots in the muscles which takes pressure off the nerve. Well, after MRI, we found my neck to be fine. Now the doctor thinks its a torn Lumbral(?) in my shoulder. After research, I agree. He wants an MRI of the shoulder, but I am just going to do the therapy. I don't want surgery. Remember folks, if you are on statins, they can rob your memory and cause muscle problems. Usually, these arm issues are directly related to torn tendons or neck issues and can be repaired with exercise, not surgery. I am feeling so much better after quitting Crestor; however my cholestral is now 355! Will wait and see about that!
