A week ago I had sex and my partner didn't wear a condom, but I have been on birth control for over 5 months. He pulled out-and assured me- but my period has not come and it should have a couple of days ago. I have not missed a pill but I do take the pill either between 6-9 am and was wondering if i HAVE to take it at the exact same time every day in order for it to work. i am under a lot of stress and have been working out hard, could this effect me?
any suggestions?

Only if you are on the mini-pill do you need to be exactly precise. You should be fine otherwise.

YOU ARE OKAY, within 3 hours is acceptable.

When you are on the 'period week', most women do not get a period until 3-4 days into the week.

BC shortens and lightens your periods over time, so this is normal.

START your next pack on time, no matter if you only have a period for a day.

seeing as carifairy said, "START your next pack on time, no matter if you only have a period for a day." i have waited a couple days to take my new pill pack (until my periods almost done to start the other pack), and seeing your reply i am guessing this was not a good choice? and should have started it anyway.

Yeah, that was a bad idea. You now need to use protection for 7 days from when you started your pack.

If you ever start late or have too many late pills you MUST use protection for a week.

Wow thanks. This is something they should include in the label/packaging.. if they don't.

I didn't realize mine says that. I've read over the little see through paper three times to try and find anything about taking it at the same time. It only mentioned to restart the pack if you missed the pills for 3 days.

Yes, the KEY to having birth control protection is not more than 7 days placebo, no matter when your period starts.

JUST like you should never SHORTEN your 'active' pills, as that compromises your birth control protection.
