Having Abd Hys As Outpatient Tomorrow! Posted: 04-07-04 01:06am
I am scheduled tomorrow 4/7 for an
abdominal full hysterectomy (uterus,
tubes, & ovaries) in addition to a
laparoscopy due to suspected ovarian
cancer. It is being done at a "surgical
center" and I will go home the same day!
I am quite freaking out over coming home
same day, but they say they do this "all
the time". They average 1-2
hysterectomies every day! Has anyone
else had their hysterectomies done
outpatient? I am quite nervous about
this. Also, my bedroom is upstairs, so I
will have to come home and walk up an
entire flight of stairs the same day!
Yikes!!

I hope everything goes well for you, I had
a hysterectomy two weeks ago and I had to
stay in the hospital for 4 days, ususal
stay is 2-3 days, but I had fever so I was
there one day extra. Anyways, if it is a
laproscopic surgery, where you dont get
the 7 inch incision I think that you can
go home the same day, but I dont think you
should go up a flight of steps! Its been
two weeks for me and I still cant do
excercise or anything like that, just
really light excercise. Well good luck
