my girlfriend just took a first response HPT this morning and it came out to be what we think to be negative; let me explain. She said when she took it out of the wrapper it already had the one line showing which is negative, she then took it and waited the 3 minutes and it was still one line, which means its negative....Im confused because i don't know if the one line was supposed to be there before she even took it? and if it was why doesn't it show it like that on the picture on the directions? I'm confused help is appreciated.

It wasn't supposed to have any lines when she first taken out of the wrapper. If the line didn't get any darker when she took it, then I'd say you may have had a defective test. Hopefully you bought a package with two in it, since those things can get quite expensive. If not, you may want to go to a local Dollar Tree (other dollar stores tests are different, so if you can, go here) and pick up a few of their baby tests for a dollar. They detect pregnancy as early as First Response's do and are only a dollar. If nothing else, just run back to walmart. Make sure she is testing at the time of her missed period and not too early so that you can get accurate results.

Good luck hun!

Take another test in a few days if she doesn't start. DO NOT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX before her next period.
